Angry Question regarding 05' Navi

How can I get the navi (from 05' e55) to display the street's name that I'm traveling on? I tried looking at the manual and searching from this forum, yet, no luck.

TIA

Use the steering wheel buttons to scroll to the "Nav" view in the speedometer info display and it will be shown there.

street names

You can also magnify down to the lowest scale and the street names will also show on the console display screen

I'm going to take a stab and guess that he is already zoomed in on the screen. This is a pet peeve of mine when compared to the NAV that was in the '03 E500 when I had that car. When I got the E55 I immediately noticed that there were a lot of lines, but no street names. The E500 seemed to have a lot more names. I'm in major cities, not out in the boonies. Main roads and highways are often blank with just the line. I think if you toggle the arrows which puts up the cross hair, the name will appear.

Speaking of the '05 Nav, and at the risk of asking something to which the answer should have been obvious, is there a way to turn the audio off once it's been turned on that will keep it from coming back on every time you turn on the Nav or one of its functions? What I mean is, even if I turn the power to the Nav off entirely, and then let's say the next time I'm in the car I hit "map" to turn on the Nav, I get audio in the background. The only way I've figured out to get rid of the constant audio from whatever radio station I had it on is to either turn it down using the volume control or hit mute. Surely there is a way to turn the audio off w/o turning off the rest of the system. Or maybe not.

Don't know if it is the same with your E's, but when I want silence in my C and just NAV I switch to the AUX input. That is my one and only solution.....HTH.

Tesla
Yeah it's annoying. The nav and audio have to be turned on/off together.

I did zoom in and all it shows are f$cking lines....I actually tried all scales and it sometime shows the street name but as I keep driving...the street name would disappear as the map shifts.

I did try the arrow and yes it works. BUT i was wondering if I can have it to show street's name at the bottom of the screen like my Acura's does. German navi sucks!!! Which company design/write the navi program for those retards???

The nav must have been engineered by the same genius who is responsible for the 3" of slop brake pedal and "hiccup shift" automatic in my CLK55. It truly amazes me how MBZ can get some things so wondrously right and other seemingly simple things so absurdly wrong.
