Amazing-Insurance on 04 E55 Less Than 03 FX45?!
I couldn't believe it. I knew my rate dropped when I went from the C32 to the FX45, so I expected it to vault right on past the old C32 high water mark by switching to the E55. Instead my quote was $288 less for the year than my 03 FX45. I'm really thrilled about it. Now if I can just find a few more ways to justify having my car payment increase by $400 a month.

Well, another insurance comparison. I went to look at & drive my car the day it arrived at the dealership, even though it was not ready for delivery. I decided right then that it was too nice of a car to be my only means of transportation and bought a Honda civic hybrid. My insurance premium on the E55 is less than the premium on the Honda. The rationale that the company uses is that the MB has more safety devices and more ant-theft devices. They do not seem to care about the retail value of the car or the HP rating of the engine.
One more reason to go and get a beast right now. Happy motoring.

You mind telling how much your premium is and who you have for insurance?
Can Drive 55 - How much are you paying?
I am with USAA - Only have one car on my policy, but the premium is fairly high $626 for 6 months - car is in Las Vegas, NV.

These are USAA prices for 6 month premiums
E55 $369.72
Civic Hybrid $398.66
The reson could be because of the safety discounts on the Mercedes and I told the company that the Hybrid is the daily driver.
