AWESOME KILL STORY! E55 vs GSXR 1000!!
Hi all. I know what you are thinking.......How the F can a car beat a motocycle??? Well, we have all asked the question, but the fact is that there are many variables, including rider experience and *****, as well as the particular road conditions at the time of the encounter. Now that I have prefaced my story with that pre-emtory explaination, here is what happened!
My wife and I are driving back from an early dinner, somewhere around 6:30pm. Weather is a comfortable 81 degrees, and conditions are dry and clear as a whistle. The road leading to my housing development is about 3.5 miles long, uphill, with long sweeping turns. The elevation change from top to bottom is at least 500 feet.
I see a black and silver GSXR 1000 behind me, kind of testing the waters...he looked ancy and as if he was hunting for a kill. I was taking it easy, and wanted him to make a move, which he did. I then responded with a little move of my own, and we began our 3 mile ascent.
I noticed he got into racing position, and kind of bliped the throttle a few times. I was foaming at the mouth, and asked my wife if she would be ok if I went after this guy, and she was silent, which means, 'yes, but I am not happy about it'. I NAILED IT! He NAILED IT. We were literally neck and neck 70, 80, 90.......... then a sweeping right hander came up. I was in the outside lane, and he got onto the brakes hard, I went into the curve hot, but the BEAST handled it with little fuss.....though I did experience some serious bump-steer and squeeling all most of the way through the 200 meter curve. By this point in time, I was at least 50 yards ahead, and this guy was leaning like the tower of pisa, to no avail. THe road straightened out, and I was flat out wide open...........100...110...then hard onto the brakes, and into a long sweeping left hander. I got through the 150 meter curve, and onto anpther straight away. When I looked back, I saw a distant speck.......literally. I absolutely destryoed this guy..............DESTROYED HIM!
I reached the top of the mountain, and slowed way down to wait for him. After about 10-15 seconds, he came FLYING over the hilltop, and saw me up ahead, so he slammed his brakes and got next to me. He was in total disbelief! He said that he has never been smoked like that in his life, and that includes Vette's, Bimmers, Mustang's, Vipers and even a Ferrari 360 (who lives in my development). He said that he has never been so happy to lose a race, becuase of the thrill he got watching this 4 door AMG SWALLOW up the road.
Needless to say, I was feeling DAMN good about my BEAST! My wife was WHITE as a ghost, but she forgave me shortly thereafter.
FOOTNOTE: After the race, my car began to experience that "power-loss" we have all been speaking of on this board, for about 1 minute or so, then it came back to normal. We REALLY need to come up with a FIX to that problem!

This is really starting to get weird. I beat a Honda 600 few months back.....then someone last week, now this.
A GSX?? I am a former owner of one and am just speechless....and a litttle confused. I know for a fact my old GSXR was the spawn of Satan for power.
Wonder what the heck is going on.....

I have an '03 GSXR 1000& a '05 GSXR 1000.That guy should have his license revoked.
A skilled rider on a GSXR 600 would leave all but a Enzo or GT3 for dead in the twisties.On the sweepers you decribed,that 1000 is capable of DESTROYING all the cars you mentioned including our beloved E55's.
Sorry,but thats just the "biker" in me talkin......
Good kill nontheless and most importantly:It's fun flyin around at high speeds!

I raced a 600cc bike from a dead dig from 0-110 mph 2 weeks ago when my E55 wasn't acting like a *****. He came out of the whole about 2/10ths ahead of me when the light turned green. By 75 mph or so I was 1/4 car behind him and by 120mph he was 1-1.5 cars ahead of me. I was suprised that he was pulling on me up top as opposed to expecting him to pull on me down low.

it was the corners that killed him he was probrably scared ****less! bikes are kinda like are E55's anyone can pin it in a straight line but who can hang in the turns!
your car lost power cause the beast just ate dinner himself--gsxr 1000's are like eating a big fat steak and he needed a rest!! :v

Just for the record what was your elevation? I noticed you mentioned you were in the mountains. This might account for some of the bike's inability to keep up. I would expect that an engine with a blower would perform much better than NA at elevation. I'm going to miss that blower on the next iteration. Might just have to wait for TURBOS to trade.

LOL, see my sig. I ride an '03 1000, too. I am selling it , because I now know that cars aren't just safer.....they can be faster, toooooo.
I smoke bikes on twisties up to Palomar Mountain on a regular basis. VERY few have the skill / ***** to keep up for long. The key is that the car has LESS power to weight, but its puttin it down LOTS more than the bike is. He has to be all precise and crap. The road must be smooth, etc. If not, E55 wins every time!!

The E55 is equipped with sufficient enough performance capabilities that it can beat many cars or bikes, expecially if such cars or bikes are not ridden to their maximum potential.
I think the key to the E55 is that it is user-friendly, and it is easier to maximize reach it's limits than would be the case with a bike (which requires a VERY high level of skill and guts). So, although I can understand OLDGIXXER's position, not very many bike riders have the skills to beat me (or other drivers with racing experince) on the open road .

I definitely agree with what your saying.Its waaay easier to go fast in a capable car than it is on a bike.Problem is,so many riders have more speed available to them then they have skill to use it,hence the outcome of your run in with a GSXR 1000.
I'm ashamed to say that so many squids are out there who shouldnt even be riding a Ninja 250,let alone a big-bore sportbike.If ya cant ride your 1000,my G'ma could get ya from a dig in her Toyota Corrolla,let alone behind the wheel of an E55....You know what I'm sayin

In a straight line race with a properly ridden 750cc, I agree that the bike will easily win. However, when you start to add variables such as
(1) an off the line launch with a clutch, while trying to keep the nose of the bike down (2) twisty roads, and
(3) the fear factor of high speeds on a two wheels
the gap begins to erode, and cars like the E55 begin to gain an advantage. I know what the books say, and I also know all about the power - to - weight considerations, but in real world situations, it is hard to deny all of the "kill" stories we have all witnessed and/or experienced.
