I know it will be more for the cosmetics, but will the hood also work for the E500? I dont think the hood is any different, right?

If so, I think i'd be interested. Do I get to pick color...hmmm

That's the one!!! It was driving me nuts.. I knew I saw it somewhere.

Thanks for saving my sanity. That is the hood that I want. As for the water, the vents are located somewhere over the intake pipes from what I can see. It will basically drip right through.. As long as it isnt over any of the electronics it should be fine.

I don't believe in modding the E55 or racing it but I am still interested. A few questions if possible:
1) What is the weight of the current hood so we can have approximate weight saving info?
2) How much is it? I may have missed this one.
3) Hood vent info. The Brabus one shows right through to the engine so what about the water? Was this one just for show?
4) It must look exactly like stock, other than vents, once painted. I know the paint and paint application is up to me, but the CF must take the paint so it looks OEM.

I'm in if the price, weight savings, vent/water issues, and CF-paint quality are all in line.

Ok guys, i have some pretty good news for everyone. It appears that we are probably able to do those Brabus style vents on the CF hood!!! Nothing will be finalized till probably the end of the week. At that time we should be able to have an exact price on the hood. It should only be able 85-100 for the hood with vents.

I will keep everyone updated right when i get some more info. I am actually getting pretty excited, i think i a black CF hood with vents will be pretty nice on my C55.

As far as water issues some people are talking about, It should not be an issue. The vents are behind the intakes. So even in a very heavy rain no water will get close. Even if the car is parked no water can just sit in the intakes anyway. People dont realize, but alot of rain gets threw the front grill to the intakes in a heavy rain when you are on the highway. The grill is not to restrictive at all. So with vents after the actual intake there are no worries at all.

What do you mean look pretty nice...It would look hotter then it is right now...( If that is possible!~! )

And I'm lost with the "It should only be able 85-100 for the hood with vents." What does this mean? You mean on top of the hood pricing? Well for me I could care less, I want my silver cf hood with the vents!~!

read somewhere the the jeep grand cherokee had good rain avoidance built into their hood vents. have a neighbor who has one will try to check it out and see what dc did.

? to black230, do you leave an open piece for the ac vents to fit back in and the windshield washer?

I currently dont have an exact weight of the stock hood yet. Like i said it should be less then half the weight of the stock hood whatever that is right now. Sorry i dont have an answer on it right now.

The regular hoods were going to be $699 for a black CF hood and silver is $99 more. But i have been told the new hood with vents will be around 85-100 more for which ever color you pick. I should have an exact price on it this week.

I answered the water issue above.

The hood will be stock besides the vents, just like the brabus hood, on CF. And it will be able to accept paint. Most people will paint it, or probably do something custom anyway.

Haha, yeah it should look great!

Sorry if i was not clear on the prices. Yes, i mean 85-100 on top of the current hood price. So when i said the black CF hood was 699 and the silver was like 799, just add approx 85-100 on top of that for the new hood with vents.

If you are talking about that vent right in front of the windshield, you use your OEM piece that has all he waster nozzles etc... The hood will pretty much have hole there waiting for that stock vent piece. Also like i mentioned, you use all the stock hood latches, hood stuts etc.....
