2nd SBC recall...???
Has anyone gone in for the 2nd SBC recall that was first announced back in May? I searched the NHTSA recall site and it says it was recalled back in May 31, 2005. Has anyone received any communication from your dealer of MBUSA? Usually, the NHTSA will post a copy of letters sent to the owners informing them of a recall, but there is no letter on the site. Only communication between MBUSA and the NHTSA.
Thanks!

I just picked up my car tonight from having the second SBC recall done.
This is what they put on my work order:
- Replace regulator for alternator
- Program Battery Control Unit (BCM)
- Mount ground line & bracket on SBC harness

Thanks for the reply...
Did you notice any difference is the brakes after the recall? Better pedal feel???
Anyone from the US have the recall done yet? Or does MB-Canada just have their act together???

I called MBUSA about this about 2 months ago and they said that there was something coming but the Fatherland hadn't put all the materials together and we'd get correspondence by mail in due course.... I guess the volume is pretty overwhelming so I guess they stage it out or something like that. It may be worth a call back to MBUSA - we should all do it and then perhaps they'll pass that up the line that there is a renewed inbound calling rate.

Just didn't want the same thing to happen to my car and some of the horror stories I've heard about SBC failure on the W211 board.

Which cars does the recall cover? IIRC, I had to take my SL500 in for an SBC recall... last year maybe? I never had a problem before or after. Actually, my SL has been the most trouble free Benz I have ever owned <knocking on wood>

There were two SBC recalls. One on June 22, 2004 and the latest one on May 31, 2005.
A letter from MBUSA to NHTSA regarding the scope of the recall can be found here: http://199.79.180.163/prepos/files/A...5V133-1070.PDF

I had the exact same procedure done as VRUS. have not noticed any difference, but have not driven it very much since. I will put it to the test this long weekend.

Yup.. Like jparch said.. I haven't noticed any difference in feel. Actually the 1st SBC recall made a bit of a difference on pedal feel but this 2nd recall was basically a ground fault that they corrected and a new bracket that was installed.
