Are there faster cars, or cars with better handling? Of course. The better question is whether or not there's a faster car for that price. That would be no. Unless you wanted to count in track cars and other specials. But still, awesome machine.

oh the Z06 is crazy.

I truly believe the Z06 is seriously underrated from the factory. My friend has a head and cam package LS1 GTO and it makes 410rwhp through an automatic. Calculating for drivetrain loss, this would be very close to 500 crank hp. Now, factor in the 427ci displacement of the Z06, not to mention the technology improvements including high-flowing heads, dry sump oil system, etc and I would actually expect the Z06 to make its claimed 505 horsepower at the rear wheels.

I don't doubt the HP is underrated, just not by that much. 500 or so HP in a 3150 lb. car will give the times the car mags have been reporting. Remember, the Ford GT with 550 HP weighs over 3400 lbs.

Post your timeslips.
That's the last time you're gonna call me names, it's not necessary. And as for what I said about other C6 owners check out the corvette forum and you'll see what I'm talking about.

You're saying the Vette guys can't break into the 12s w/ a C6? I'd have thought a properly launched auto would do it.

Some can some can't. I love my C6 it's got a lot of torque and HP that are instantly on tap, the LS2 is a great motor, GM just chose to neuter the thing by adding all of these extra protection devices, I'm guessing for warranty purposes. I've spoken with many Vette tuners who have said the same thing. That's why everyone is waiting for the LS2Edit software to come out, so 100% can be gotten out of the motor.
The autos seem to launch much better than the MN6s do, but many autos have had issues with GM's torque management kicking in and stealing power.

Word is the "torque management system" on the C6's bears a resemblance to our ESP. As a result, low high 12/low 13-second quarters with non-Z06 C6's are not unusual unless some software mods are made.
