Has the price of fuel affected your driving habits in your Beast?
I have posted this to others on the forum and want to hear from you E55 member's. Here the price of 91 oct fuel jumped to $3.15 overnight. I still love to drive my small block.

Well, my driving habits have been affected, but in a different way. Today was the last day for gas and after 6 hours of waiting in line, only 89 octane was left, and I had no choice but to fill up with it, as I was running only on fumes. The price was $2.88 a gallon which is ridiculously cheap I think. I am in Madison, Mississippi, and tonight it was announced that as of midnight tonight, all gas stations in MS will be closed to public and avaliable only to emergency vehicles only...which I think is stupid, but I can suffer staying at home and not driving for now. I am 3 hours from the coast and although it's nothing compared to there, it's still bad here.

Only thing I really get concerned about is shortages.....I am tempted to fill up my racing gas cans with some fuel just in case....but they have been saying on the news around here, that it would be the exact cause of a shortage around here......if we all started stockpiling. Gonna play it by ear.
6 Hour gas lines......hello 1973.

There was some talk this morning around the office that a few of the refineries that have been down are running again....they say only at about 35% for the time being, but at least they are on. Anybody know anything about that?

In my country, the gas price used to be very static.... no change at all - not even a penny - for years as it was fully controled by the government. And when the government announced the plan to increase the price - even tiny - you could see that people were just filling like crazy.... wouldn't be surprised if they also hit 6-hour waiting

IMO gas availability is the issue not price
Getting gas will likely be the issue... not price, just last nite I could only buy 87 octane and the station owner who has 10 stations told me that he is being told by his supplier that he can only have about 40% of what he typically orders and the higher premium fuels and diesel are even harder for him to get.
Hopefully this will be shortlived as fuel affects basically all goods and services and our economy that is just getting back on track will go into the ****ter again like it did after 9/11.
Weather or not we can drive our 55's will be way down the list of problems we will all face if our economy can't get access to affordable fuel.

Just out of curiosity I pushed my transmission mode from "S" to "C" this morning for the 27 mile commute. It saved me about 2 MPG. I was not gunning it hard, and it starts in second gear. Just thought it was interesting.
We will probably try to drive our Navigator less, but it is the family vehicle so it must be used! But when the lease is up in 2 years, we will most likely not buy another SUV.

I read this question and decided to see whether driving patterns affected my mileage that much.
I checked my mileage in two trips to work. It's 22 miles round trip. The first trip I tried to milk every mile out of my gas. Got 16.7MPG (in town).
The second trip was ***** out. Got 15.7MPG. That equates to 20 miles out of tank difference. Sorry but I'll continue to drive my E55 like it should be driven and when I can't get gas I'll get a putt putt to commute in.

Let's put this into perspective and break it down to actual $'s:
20 gallon tank (approximate)
- If gas goes up by $0.50 = an additional $10 per fill up x 4 times a month = $40 a month more
- If gas goes up by $0.75 = an additional $15 per fill up x 4 times a month = $60 a month more
- If gas goes up by $1.00 = an additional $20 per fill up x 4 times a month = $80 a month more
Even if it goes up by an additional $1.00 per gallon, you are talking about an extra $80 per month, assuming you fill her up 4 times a month. Come on, anyone complaining about the gas price that drives an E55 has bigger issues such as living paycheck-to-paycheck.
