MAF/MAS/whatever air sensor you have.
It's easy to clean the sensor but risky. Put it in a ziplock of alcohol.

Yes, this can happen, but when it does, it's always an issue with improper oiling techniques. I have used K&N filters for many years and have never had a problem - nor has anyone I know who cleans and re-oils them correctly. To say they are unreliable for oiling problems on a public forum is irresponsible. Especially when sponsers on said forum sell competitive products. Please edit your posts.

So I'm trying to help some guys avoid a problem. And that's irresponsible?
Hardly.

Ricky is right. More people have reported MAF problems after going to K&N vs Green. I for one had mine fail a few months after installing pre-oiled K&Ns. Very fine, dirty film all over it. I didn't know i could be cleaned so I replaced it. Switched to Green and have been running trouble free for over a year.

I have used k&n's and Afe's on many maf equipped cars without a single incident. But hey I learned along time ago that arguing over filters is like arguing over synthetic oil nothing but opinions and conjecture.

No, but declaring them to be unreliable in public w/o a comprehensive analysis of the failure mechanism is. Can you point us to a source that has conducted such an analysis? Are you familiar with the term libel?

So personal experiences are libel?
Dude, I didn't know I had to back up my personal experiences with some kind of formal analysis. Seriously, I thought we were sharing information.

Yes, they sure do make them for the W211 E55. We have them on our site under the W211 E-Class section.
Thanks Black.....got order in now.

Someone mentioned there is a cleaning kit for them on the site, but I did not see that, and I wouldn't imagine you can clean paper filters anyway correct?

Look forward to trying them out.....

If I remember right, they are cotton.
Tell Neal (blackc230coupe) to sell you the recharge kit while you buy the filters.

Sharing is not the same as defamation. How much longer are you going to carry on with this farce? You've been driving for what, less than two years now? You probably don't own your own car, and you expect us to believe you've had all these filter failures? You may not realize this, but until you turn 18, your parents are accountable for your actions. Think about it. My last post.

You know what, you're right. It's not like I haven't read information from hundreds of differents of sites. It's not like I've helped quite a boat load of friends working with their cars. It's not like I haven't done stuff myself.

When I have a Green or an APE fail on me, you'll see I won't suggest others to buy them.

Don't leave, you know a lot, and I know I as well as others can learn a lot from you.

Simple,

1. Customers had dynoed their car and got a few more ponies then K&N.
2. There butt dyno felt better.
3. Improved MPG over K&N and stock.
4. On cars with a MAF, lots of people have had problems with K&N. Not one problem ever with green or their oil.
5. Renntech even saw the difference and now uses Green filters instead of K&N on all there application.

Just look in the C55 forum, I have sold lots of Green Filters to for those cars and even the C32. Not one up happy customer. So good feedback is enough for me.

If you guys install these filters and have expectations like the car is supposed to run 1 sec. quicker in the 1/4 mile, think again. Its not like a new supercharger or a pulley kit. At the end of the day its still a filter, And just a good one at that.

Can you show me a single dyno sheet where someone dynoed stock vs. K&N vs. Green and actually saw a "few more ponies" increase with Green over the other 2?

No can do there Sir. I have never dynoed one for myself. I simply just heard happy customers comments over the phone after there car was dynoed. I have absolutely no proof on paper that you gain anything from these.

If you feel more secure with the K&N I suggest just sticking with those.

I don't have a dog in this fight, I don't use K&N or Green in any of my vehicles (or sell them). I'm just trying to stick to the facts. You and Ricky have posted anecdotal evidence, at best, to bolster your argument that Green is better than K&N.

If you don't have any empirical evidence, just say so. Quoting BS dyno reports is, well, BS

I woud never say anything that is not true nor proven. Thats why i never said you gain x amount of HP with Green. Simply stating customers feedback is far from BS my friend.

If there is more increased throttle response, is there a chance of seeing the torque curve earlier on an NA whether racing or on a dyno, and then what are the effects on the torque curve on a FI(slim to none.)?

According to a search, the only filters with this supposed problem are K&N's, due to over oiling.

This is my understanding as well. Overoiling of K&N filters. Green Filter owners should watch their oiling techniques and limit the oil quantity as well as air them out properly before re-installing after a cleaning. Out of the package, you should air them out before the initial install.
