i think it's easy to own a corolla/sentra/civic, but not an e55/m5/rs6. you certainly have to work for one to get one. i agree, if they were that easy to afford, everyone would be driving them.
not everyone can shell out 90K for a car, and of plenty people that can, a lot of them don't really care to. i know of number of filthy rich people who could care less about spending more than 40K on a car, b/c it means nothing more to them than the means of transportation.
in fact, i think i'm the only person in my class who loves cars and would be willing to spend that much in the future. everyone else thinks i'm crazy for wanting to spend so much for what seems to them "just a car".
i think it also has to do with the mentality and values of people.
oh well...

I'm 21, but I don't own an E55 yet...I've been watching my investments closely but I don't have enough to spend while still being able to buy a house. Considering that I'm in law school, hopefully the opportunity will open to me in a few years after a little more hard work...
That or maybe I'll just have to get the E63...whatever I like more.

I'm 47. Am I too old to own a Beast? I just got it a couple months ago - I didn't even get my first car until I was 26 ('74 Duster with 104K miles I bought for a buck from my brother-in-law). Good job for all you younger guys who have done well enough to put yourself in one of these awesome rides. It was well worth the wait for me, and I am having a blast! My wife thinks I act like an adolescent when I am driving the E55 (doesn't understand why I have to make her head snap back on each and every take-off!), nor does she understand the whole mod craze, especially the needs for MORE power and a louder exhaust! So, 47 going on 20 when I'm riding the E. Wife thinks I'm nuts - but she drives a Silverado and rides horses - so we're coming from waaay different perspectives on preferred modes of transporation!

Add one more to the 18yr old club. As that my age usually results in criticism and disregard for my credibility (as I am sure you can relate Matt), I have been hesitant to speak of it on this board. I am glad to see, however, that I am not alone. And further, I am even happier to see that you guys are as accepting as you are. I also do not do drugs, drink, or neglect responsibility and have the whole-hearted trust of my parents. My family is also very interested in cars as well as our peers, so given this fact, it is really no surprise that we make the investments that we do. I say "we" because, regardless of the doubt that I face when discussing such matters, I too am very involved in business matters of my own. While I take no credit in buying my car or anything for that matter, I am learning very much about real estate and I am pursuing other smaller entrepreneurial endeavours. I think this is important because as some priviledged young people (and I can most definitely name a few) are so inclined to live off of their parents for the most part of their lives, I do not believe in this. And whereas I find stories of rags to riches most respectable, I feel it necessary to use my disposition to my own advantage, and get a head start on life. I would just like to add to the discussion by saying that yes, I also recieve lots of "flack" for what i have, but I appreciate it more than anybody. As many of you can acknowledge, I am an active member of the board and I strive to learn as much about my car as I can - simply because of how much I love and appreciate it (and come on...who couldn't!). Anyway, it was a bold and honorable move by Matt to blatantly come out and say what he did and I regret not doing so myself.

57 and no mods. I suppose that is typical of old people. I went through the mod phase in a previous life, 57 Chev, 66 Chevelle SS (425 HP 427CI), 67 Olds 442, 69 Porsche 911, etc. Actually, I like my car the way it is. It is just like new, everytime I get in it.

Kicked outta college at 19, first job was at 250/wk. Hit some lucky breaks and worked my *** off to get where i am now. long way to go still.
funny thing is when i went into the dealer i knew my sales guy and we were cool, but nobody else would look at me. after i signed the papers it was Mr. S this an Mr. S that. It was too late, they had already lost my respect

I'm 26 and just bought a brand new 2006 E55. I traded in my CLS 500 which I bought in January.
My previous MB cars are an SLK32 and an SLK 320.
Sorry about the pics, the weather in Dallas isn't so good for taking pictures so I had to take them inside the garage.

Absolutely. I didn't realize you were just east of us on I-20. I'll work on some dates and locations and post something on here.
Maybe a road trip to Hot Springs, AR and we could meet up with you and other Louisianan's (sp?) in Longview/Tyler area. Just an initial thought.
