24 here...thanks to a thing called eBay, I was/am able to purchase cars that I only could dream about. Besides throwing $$$ away on cars, I did purchase a home for myself as well. I work full time now and don't get to do much eBaying anymore but it was good while it lasted.

18, 24, 36, etc, does it really matter? Age doesn't mean anything but it does help me understand some of the childish behavior around here! It would be more interesting to see marital and family status as well or what percent of your net worth your car(s) make up or is it a liability (lease or upside down loan), etc.

BTW, who are the 6 "owners" under 18? Being young at heart doesn't count, old guys! Also, you can't list your girlfriend's age!

So I'm just curious... Those of you who have E55's under the age of 25, do you guys own a house too or do you rent? I'm 20 and I could have bought an E55 but I decided to save my money for a house. I'm just wondering/

Unless you bought the car yourself, anyone under age 24 or so with a newer E55 is taking life way too easily. I honestly think there is no point in driving such a car at that age. Such cars like the E55 are to be appreciated at a later age and not to be thrown around like a Mustang with a teenager.

Seriously, a new E55 costs what, $75 to more than $90 grand? Sometimes you can't take everything for granted and gotta take a step back and realize, that's a lot of money for a car.

Just my opinion.

Does she have a sister? lol. Im single dammit...I wouldve thought it wouldve been easier going from the GS400 to this!?
I'm 27, as of last month. My '05 beast is almost one year old! Tints will be going on once I get back from my vacation. Still debating on a built in valentine and a audio system. I might leave the latter for when I buy an suv as a second vehicle.

BMWEATR- You can send those pics to Turbosupra2jzgte@aol.com if you'd like!

Newton-I realize you weren't singling me out, but I am in that group, and I honestly don't take anything I have in life for granted. I realize how lucky I am. And who's to say that I cannot appreciate the car just because I am 18? But, I also respect your opinion. Everyone is entitled to one.

I think the majority of younger adults who have nice cars really do appreciate what they have. Of course, you'll find the few who don't and that's why the young adults will be sterotyped into the "irresponsible/don't appreciate" category.

You know how many times I've been asked if my mommy or daddy has purchased my cars? Just around eleventy-billion times. That's not counting the people who see my cars and say "his mommy probably bought that for him".

I didn't purchase my cars for anyone else but myself because I am a car nut and that's what I wanted to do. Do I really care what others think? Nope. Would I act any different if I didn't purchase the cars myself? Nope.

Quote: Well I know I am, and consider myself to be EXTREMELY lucky to experience such a car at my age. But I also do have experience with high hp cars, as some people think I am just going to absolutely kill myself. My Supra dynoed in at 772rwhp, but also, the E55 is a COMPLETELY different car. My dad and I are very close and I have given him all the reason to trust me. I don't drink, smoke, I make good grades, and while that does not constitute a reason for me to have an E55, it does show my responsibility. Yeah, the funny thing is, a lot of people do tell me to "take daddy's/mommy's car home," I just simply smile and look away. No reason to argue, because they have every reason to think it's daddy's/mommy's car. Not everyday you see a young man in a 90K car. I was quite surprised myself to get this car, as it was truely my DREAM car. And I truely do appreciate the maturity of this board, unlike many others in which they see how bad they can make me feel. If you were to meet me, I am just a normal down to earth guy, and do not flaunt anything I have. I know how truely lucky I am to have what I do, and I also like to share that experience with others (i.e.- I like to give people rides and show them the power of AMG, =) ) Anyway, thank you for listening to my babbling!
Indeed, very well put! We need more teens like you around here. From what I hear, for a teenager you sound extremely responsible and I respect that. Safe driving!

Not hating at all.

Marketing #s say that the average owner is older than 90% of the respndents here. Just trying to make some better sense of the results. I was driving a vintage Corvette AND a classic Jaguar at age 17. Both purchased with my own money and credit. By the time I was 22, I was driving in a new Carrera Cabriolet so I'm no stranger to the "Mommy and Daddy must have bought it" remarks.

18 here too. I know Im still a kid in some people's eyes, and yes you are right. My dad, brother and I are car fanatics and I have grown up around them. I appreciate my car every day I wake up.
Just waking up the beast is enough to make me realize how lucky some of us really are....

Damn, there's alot of rich kids driving E55's.....
When I was 18 my moms could barely afford the $500 1975 Mercury Comet she bought for me.
I wouldn't have wanted it any other way either,I don't like lavish gifts bestowed upon me.

Well, I'm not surprised seeing teenagers w/ expensive toys as in my country the car price is more than tripled... so for parents who send the kids over here wouldn't feel much to spend that kind of money for their kids (E55 for the cost of an accord). Unfortunately, it didn't happen to me My parents "only" bought me a '96 Maxima that I still enjoy till now.

The thing that impresses me is when such a young kid (18, 19, 20, etc.) buys the car on his/her own. That's impressive....

me 29 and I thought I was lucky and blessed enough to have a career that allows me to buy my first house in Silicon Valley at 23 plus '01 E55 at 24 plus some other expensive toys couple years after that and still manage to have enough saving to buy another house (old house for rental) last year.... but looking at ppl in this forum, I guess I'm just average Not that I am not happy.... but just amazed at how people could do at such a young age.

Keep up the good work and please do share your experience so all of us could learn

Quote: I beg to differ.
Otherwise we'd see E55's & CLS55's all over the place.
Maybe it's different where your from, but not here in NY
Of course it's easy to own an E55 in the US! USD80,000 buys an E240 in Australia. You need USD195,000 for an E55 here. At that rate there aren't too many 17 year olds driving one here, especially with our inexperienced driver laws and insurance premiums.
Our average middle class drives an SUV or 3-series, Audis A4 and C-class, all of which cost as much as an E55 in America.
You will not see too many guys below 45 in a Porsche or high-end Mercedes like E55 in Australia.
