Nice Intercooler Temp Gauge

I found a really nice digital intercooler temperature gauge for the car.

It is a dual readout display. It has a pre-intercooler and post-intercooler reading plus it shows differential temp on the display so I can check efficiency changes with modifications I make.

It is the same one that Andial (Porsche tuner) sells but I found the manufacturer and will be buying direct from them.

Here is the link if you want to see what it looks like: http://www.andial.com/content/930/gauges.htm

Should have it in the next couple of days and will be installing soon thereafter.

Because I like to share with my E55 bretheren.... The manufacturer is DAVTRON.

They make aeronautical equipment.

FYI, Andial sells this for $270 USD!!

Davtron: $170USD but that is a wholesale dealer price.. You probably won't be able to buy it for that.

Victor,

Please let me know when you install this and what your pre/post IC temps are...I am interested as well. I had one on my '93 RX7...worked great.

Those are nice. I'd like to hear more about the install process. Please post pics after install.

Will do guys.. It was supposed to be shipped out yesterday.. Waiting for my tracking #.

You will have to drill a hole in the intake manifold to install this..

I was going to put 1 sensor in the intake tube that feeds the throttle body (this will give me IAT temp)... Then 1 sensor goes on the intake manifold before it enters the heads.

Ideally the pre-intercooler sensor should be just after the supercharger and just before the intercooler.. Because of the way our cars are designed and the fact that the intercooler is sandwiched underneath the supercharger, there is no way to do this properly.

Will definitely take pics once I do the install.

Do you know if the probe senor (thermocouple?) is insulated from the mounting point? You only want the temperature of the air.

Very good question.. Since I bought an instrument made for aviation aircraft I would expect that it is properly engineered to take that into account..

To be honest, I hadn't thought to ask that question... Now, I just hope it is...
