W221 S65 AMG
Question Aftermarket steering Wheel for E55 - where to buy?

Anyone know where I can pick one up that retains the shifters?

The darn stock steering wheels feels so skinny like something off a 1970s oldsmobile. I feel like I could crack it. I can't believe MB didn't provide something better like in the R32 VW (beefy wheel), or Audi S4, 911, etc.

This is my MP Design wheel sold by MB Werks for $1350. It has the OEM quality, perforated leather and perfectly matched wood. It has a beefy "rifle grip" feel. Shift buttons get transferred from your stock wheel as does the airbag. All the connections are there, of course (at that price!)
After a week of use you will love it! Its thicker rim makes the steering feel more direct. After 6 months I got into a friend's E55, and the stock wheel felt really odd and skinny and the steering was too vague for my liking.Good luck!

I was going to ask if you installed this yourself & how hard it was. But I looked again & saw that you installed it on thw wrong side of the car So, I'm not gonna ask you for advice.

You're not out of luck. I have the same wheel as Rafal, purchased from the same place but in Burl Walnut. One of the best mods you can do to this car.

Thats funny how you say the wheel is so skinny. I guess you havent driven an E350 or E500.

So, is this a do-it-yourself installation?

for someone with 6 thumbs like me, hell no. I think Adam here did his CL 55 by himself. Do a search here on steering wheel. This was a hot topic a while back when a lot of us were getting this wheel.

I got the wheel before my car arrived. Gave it to my dealer and they fitted it pre-delivery. It takes them 10 min.

i did a steering wheel replacement on a '68 dodge charger a long time ago (switched from stock to one of those cool removable ones...), but i've heard a few places that you're best off trusting a professional with newer wheels, since if you're novice you could blow your fingers off while jiggling with the airbag (if it accidentally deploys while you're in there screwing around). frankly, that scares the crap out of me!
