just playing devils advocate here, but are there any adverse effects to have the fun turn on earlier? Has anybody dynoed their car with and without?

I'm particularly interested in this mod becuase it's freakin' 110 degrees in Las Vegas. And, obvioulsy because of the cooling of the intercooler as mentioned above. There has got to be some solids gains from this, right?

the fan will not only turn on sooner, but run a lot harder when it is on a lot more of the time and therefore is louder and could wear out the fan sooner maybe?

vrus - how much more IS the fan on? is it very loud? does it stay on when the car is turned off?

Does that make sense?
I read this line in your first post and was confused:

"-0C is the default.. I had Steve set it to -10C.. My fan now turns on -10C earlier"

Did Steve change the setting to read "-10" or "+10"? What did the display say? The reason I ask is that I had a tech play with the submenus and found this adjustment mechanism. There were no directions as to how a positive or negative adjustment actually affects the fan temps. Intuitively, you would reduce the temp to "-10" to get the fans on sooner. But the directions from that other page, if correct, mean that doing that would have had the exact opposite effect.

enzom if you are referring to the post by pte https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...22#post1633022 That is the correct method he printed that from the help menu on the star diagnostic. If your tech goes to the help menu for that sub-menu the same page will be displayed.

............I am with enzom. According to the page turning your fan temp to 10 degrees less will cause the fan to keep your engine hotter. Does one just ignore the what the page says? Since no one has a thermometer in their engine bay, how does one know that they have actually set the fan temp correctly?

You set it to +10 like the page says.
You can hookup any obdII scanner and read your cooling temperature to see at what temp the fan activates.

If the ecu is programmed correctly, the lower temps will aid/help with more performance. By having cooler water, the charge cooler will also provide cooler water running to the intercoolers on top of the intake, hence a cooler intake charge of air=more Hp!

So if the default fan is 0, and there is no positive or negative signs in front of number, you have two options.....

0 and 10 correct?
So it would be impossible to select the wrong setting......
