What do you like better (Pics inside)?

I am looking at two wheel options. I have always loved BBS LMs. They are light(25lbs) and well constucted but it seems that very few of you have used this wheel.

The other option that I am considering is the 2-piece AMG wheel. I love the look but this thing is a PIG (Krispy Kreme?), weighing in at an artery hardening 36lbs.

So what do you think I should choose for my silver E55? A few pics below.

I am biased since I have the 19"AMG rims for over a year. My main goal is keeping the car looking stock but not performing stock

Have had many praises from dealers to folks on this board who have seen them on my car. If you do a search on 19" AMG rims you will see several pics of my car.

The draw back is that they are $$$$$$ and heavy!

I wouldn't get either, but between the two, I'd go for the BBS.

I had the LM's on my W210 E55 and my E46 M3. The wheels are awesome but I dont think you can get them in the 19x10 for the E55 bolt pattern. I believe the widest is 19x9.5 which is still ok but some here like the widest wheel possible. Either way I say LM's

If you like the LM, but want a bigger lip, maybe look into getting a set of these custom made for your car in silver:

I had the LM's on my M5. Nice wheels, I really liked them.

I like them on the wagon in the picture, but the offset on the front looks a little bit funny. The offset between the front and rear looks wrong, somehow...too much of a difference. It's probably just the way the offsets are from the factory on an E55.

My vote for the E is to get a more contemporary looking wheel....my .02

4 wheels
19" AMG SL65 rims with PS2 rubber. Winning combination, plus they look great on the Silver E55.

4 wheels
How about some HRE Competition rims like Vic? Now that would be sweet along with some Evo rotors.

haters crazy
I've seen 04E55AMG's car with the SL65 wheels and it looks SWEEEEETTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!! Pics do not do it justice. If performance is very important to you I would go with a lighter wheel though.

I love my HRE's- great looking yet only weigh in at 20 lbs front and rear (20.5 to be exact). You do have to deal with the staged lip which is not as visually appealing IMO but that would be the same with the LM's. The lighter wheel does show its benefits with acceleration because of the less unsprung weight. If you get those AMG's your car will look great but some of your power increases will be affected during acceleration because of the huge weight increases.

Vic:

Love your wheels!! I was actually considering those, but thought they may not fair well when driving the potted roads of Ohio. I love the black finish against the silver lip. Very, very nice.

What about the ASA ST4? They are reasonably lightweight, look like the 2 piece AMG wheels and they are very inexpensive -

Rock... you just spent real money to wake your car up so performance is probably a motivator in your wheel selection. With this said the HRE seems to be the clear choice as you like the look AND they are the lightest.

Thanks Wayne. I saw those on the Tire Rack site.

I think these knockoffs (a one-piece trying to look like a two piece) have been discussed here before. Call me a snob, but I just cannot put these on a $100,000+ car.

2005 Brilliant Silver E55
I had LMs on my RS6 and loved them.

They are light for sure.

The 2 piece AMG, while they looks HOT, they're overpriced for CAST. But Spero's car does look HOT!

Not a snob at all. I have several sets of multi-piece wheels and I sort of feel the same way, especially on a car as expensive as our Benzes. Have you check out the offerings from CCW? John makes some really nice wheels that are strong and lightweight, with great racing creds and incredible customer service.

BTW, I've always loved the BBS LMs. I think they look awesome on that wagon you posted. Any more pics, from different angles?

Rock,

If you're going LM's may i suggest Inden Design! Those guys are sick! Very aggressive et's. Or go with HRE Competition series. You can't go wrong with either. Both are

I just like the 5 spoke design best on this car and would go with either the AMGs or the HREs. mp
