There is no regular production street car that can outrun that car at the strip...PERIOD!!

Production car street tires have absolutely no chance against those Mickey Thompsons. That car is a perfect example of a Drag Racing Rocket; a supercharged V8, with NO2, RWD LSD and drag slicks.

I have alot of drag racing experience and I can tell you that other than 2 Toyota Supras that I have seen (each with 1400 RWHP) that E55 is the fastest street car out there, and I bet he drove his to the track!!!!! They trailered both Supras.

I'm cooking up something with the SL600 to try and match or beat Derrick's time (I want to bring him out of retirement )

Well it's about time Joe! Retire the 996 and bring the SL next time.. Heck your dad ran a 11.7 in it! You can shave that down to low 11's easily. Get the Renntech Airbox like the CL65 we know, and you could well be in the 10's.

Taking it as is Friday to Firebird and Sunday to Speedworld.

It's going to the "Mad Scientist" this coming week. I'm told it should be able to run low 10's with the mods. We'll see.

I'm still in Dallas in recurrent training on the CE750 thru Friday so I'll miss firebird this week! (dang).. but I'll try to make it this Sun.. Plus my car ran better at Speedworld! for some odd reason.

That's a pretty strong statement. (I myself have owned two Supra's. I still have one that's being modified with a bigger turbo.) But if its true I'm certainly proud to be in somewhat of the same league owning this car.

I can only hope this news does for the resale value what it did for the 93-98 Supra. Someone now just needs to make a movie and call it "The Fast and The Luxurious".

Not to take anything away from Derrick, but I can list off multiple cars just in the DC area that are street driven/legal, driven to the track and run much faster than Derek's car.

There is a notch Mustang in NoVA that runs 9s on 17" MTs. The car looks absolutely stock

Fair enough.. BUT.. BIG BUT...

Are they even remotely close to the W211 in the following:

-safety (this is a 4400lb 5-pax family sedan with #1 IIHS safety rating)
-comfort (it's a Benz!)
-prestige/status (again.. it's a Benz!)
-high speed stability (autobahn engineered)
-workmanship (German attention to detail)
-Chick magnet ability (again! It's a Benz!).

Any clown can take a Dodge Neon or Toyota Supra and spend $$ to make it do 1/4 mile in 9 sec.. who cares? It's not just about speed.. keep the context fellas... It's about the over all car.

Heck my CDI diesel runs a 15.05 @ 93.. not at all impressive until you realize that I get 40 mpg out of this 4000lb sedan! and 738 miles between fillups on a 21 gallon tank!

I wasn't saying it's a benz, but he said no other street cars run that fast. lol

Cobras are way heavy though...verts are 3800# and coupes are 3650#.

my cobra vert weighs 4100lbs so its about 300 lbs lighter. Thats besides the point.

Derek, that is badass man, it came out easy and just flat out hooked. That is the most IMPRESSIVE car Ive seen for sure. luxury and speed is just flat out the best combo there is!

it's quite over weight at 4100, are you sure that's not including you?... nevertheless 300lbs is a ton when it comes' to your drag time since weight and hp are the two biggest factors involved. Derek did remove a lot of extra weight, spare tires, etc.. so that's a moot point anyway.

But my point is the MB Is a superior CAR in every other respect to all of those souped up dragsters... as for weight the MB is covered with light weight aluminum body panels, and with all of this it's still a lot heavier.. this is due to the FACT it's designed to actually survive an accident at 150mph.. something that's just not going to happen with a Mustang.

Here is just such an accident where the pax walked away from the W211 (by opening their doors), and the police in the other car died on impact... head on (which is clear to see why), combined speed over 150!

so whats next since the n20 is coming off derek? Any plans to do another kind of racing or just enjoy the car after the goal was met?

Thanks man. I'll still run the E every now and then without NOS but taking Gid E Up's lead, I've really fell in love with road racing. I've done 26 track days from West Palm Beach to Iowa in the last 3 months with my Noble. It's an amazing rush.

I agree, I'm going to the Porsche track event here on Sunday. It gives you a great appreciation of not only speed but handling, braking, etc...
