Saw the bulletin. As of Nov 1, there is $7000 cash back from manufacturer to dealer on 06 CL65 and S65. Add that to the discount you can muster up from a dealer and you are looking at $15-17k off sticker :p

They know the new body is coming, they want to off those things quick, so they're not stuck with millions of dollars in brand new, old bodystyle cars.

Do you know if this program is still in effect? Looking at leasing/buying a 2006 S65. Thanks.

Yes, it is valid until Nov 30th. Generally, programs either end or renew at the beginning of following month
good luck

....if you want an S65 or CL65, just hold off till mid next year. I predict you can get a used one for under $100K.

For 100K, I will be happy to take a S65 :-)

Would be a nice addition to the fleet!

..........get ready to expand your fleet. There is a guy who has been trying to unload his CL65 on ebay for $129K for the past month and gets no takers. LINK As soon as the new W221 S65 is announced I believe an additional $29K drop is not out of the question. Buy two and I'll drive one for ya.

I could be wrong, but don't you have to pay taxes on that $7000 cash back? It seems like you would have to, and that being the case, I would rather just take an addition $7000 off the price of the car. IMHO

I'm not a tax expert, but why would you have to pay taxes on a discount applied to a purchase?

The cash is manufacturer to dealer so its up to the dealer to share it with you. Unless the above post is wrong and its factory to customer cash which I seriously doubt on any AMG. So anyone's one first goal is to try to steal some of it. And since these are dealers we are talking about they will keep all of it if they can. If its dealer cash and they share it with you then it will go towards to the sale price or negotiated gross cap cost in a lease. You will not pay taxes on rebate money- its in an itemized section that is not taxable. This is in California so other states may vary.

In some states, when cash is put in your hand it is considered income, and all income with only a few exceptions, is taxable by the state. I am not saying that is necessarily how it is in this case, that is why I was asking.

I appriciate your insight Vic, I might look into that. Oklahoma's income tax laws are extremely strict because that is our states primary source of income (we have nothing to bring in revenue from outside states, so we must rob our residents). I imagine it might be taxable here.

Understood. I was assuming that the "cash back" was just a subtraction from the purchase price. But, it might not be listed that way, depending on how it is written in the sales agreement.

I really doubt it. Even the VW Phaeton did not have such abysmal depreciation.

I hope you're right, though.

..........you can have one today for $129K. LINK Imagine what will happen to the price when the new Cl body shape comes out. Under $100k price is all but certain.

Local dealer in the paper today had a new 05 CL65 for $139K out the door. Scary how fast these cars have come down from $189K!

Still a ton of $$$$$$$$

Yup. That is a ton of $$$$$$
I can't believe what a hard sell the CL65 is right now, but even at $129k, it's still a bit pricey for me.
And I thought losing $7-8k when I sell my car after 10 months was bad.

The current body style SL600's are coming down nicely also.

I may go that route when my E55 gets close to the end of its warranty.

Car is a lemon...
If you ask me, the buy back occurs when the dealer cant rectify the problem within 3 tries or spends x amount of days at the dealer for repairs. Since that occurred here, I want nothing to do with it.

From the listing...
! Due to the overly stringent buy-back, otherwise known as Lemon Laws, in California and Florida and New Jersey you as the consumer have the opportunity to save thousands of dollars. This car was reacquired or bought back from the consumer due to warranty issues
