They are ugly and, from the responses of owners, they are hard to live with on a daily basis. I'd imagine that you will see more and more disappointed owners dropping these like a hot potato.

So Ugly!
I just had to go to ebay and look once more. The rear of the car is as ugly as ANY I have ever seen (including the 745Li BMW bought back from me). What was I thinking. The interior is nothing more than cheap plastic in its appearance. At least I could live with the 745's interior (when the electronics were functioning).

That sounds like a lot of cars. Is that amount due to people trying to make a quick buck or is supply greater than demand?
To be fair, I checked Ebay for the CLS55- five are up for auction.

This might be good news for me. After my local dealer was bought out by a larger chain, they decided to no longer honor the original dealer's M5 list. Rather they said they are going to pool all the people on the list and auction off allocations to the highest bidder. When they call me, I'm going to tell them to shove their allocation up their *** and just call a dealer elsewhere.

Okay, as ugly as they might be, and DID agree until I saw this one on ebay...granted to interior will suck to keep clean, but this is just pure sex!

Well i wouldnt say that m5 interrior looks like an american cheap car interrior, it has alcantra headliner and leather dash ( optional i think) but ITS BUTT UGLY... not feeling the lines of it.

I was thinking about it today and as great of a car it is, I mean nothing does drive like a BMW... I still can't get over the styling. It has never been really "sold" to me in my mind so i just can't imagine driving one.
Plus have you all seen how big those cars are, I mean I know our E's arent exactly Lotuses running around, but just the sheer stature of the car along with it's looks is quite amusing.

There has been some discusson regarding the number of M5s produced. Looking at pure numbers, the E60 M5 production is more than double the E39 M5 production PER DAY. Some have not warmed up to the exterior design (myself included) Others are holding out until 3/06 when the manual becomes available for the US market. If you add all of these, you can see the abundance of M5s on ebay. Some have speculated that BMW upped the production to, in effect, neutralize the unfair mark-up strategy of scum bag dealers!
Most of these listings have a mark-up or a reserve above the MSRP. It's a basic fishing strategy.

Not really. You guys must have some very poor short term memory. '99 E55 was going for $10K+ over sticker and it was only $70K. W211 E55 and E39 M5 were the same thing. I flipped a W211 for $8K after driving it for almost 5,000 miles and 2 other AMGs for $5K each wihtout ever taking possesion. I've already got 2 offers over $7K and the car is not due in for 2 more weeks. I think 10 will be the number that gets it.
There are buyers out there willing to pay a premium for a properly optioned car like the M5. You just have to know where to look for them.

Last year, I had a line on a 2,000 mile SLR for $520,000 but the car was in Fla. The buyer here in Silicon Valley was too lazy to fly back east to see it so he paid $650,000 for a new one with the same options from the local dealer. For many here in the Bay Area, having the car right now is worth the extra bux. Money is not an issue for them.
