Wow, that's a crazy experience to have on Thanksgiving. Surprising that it was in that area (so, it was right where the McDonalds and IHOP are, right?). Although, my homeboys and I got jumped at that McDonalds in High School (10 years ago). Generally speaking, that area is not a bad area at all.
Wow, like drex said i would have never expected something like that to happen there. I actually have a good friend living right next to there and it's a very nice community. Stuff like this makes me scared cause I drive around in such places all the time.

Glad you are ok.

I have known two other folks who were in somewhat severe accidents, and they both gave me the same advice. Get a good lawyer and don't be in a hurry to settle personal injury suits with the insurance companies. You could have (but I hope not) some issues for several years, and if you settle too quickly you are SOL. One didn't settle yet, (been six years) he just had another back operation that the insurance company had to pay for. He is very happy he didn't settle. (They tried to settle with him years ago right after the accident for $16k and he refused. Very smart move on his part.)

What a terrible story. Like the others, I am glad you're okay and I hope this guy gets the most extreme penalty possible.

I'd be just upset as you when someone takes away what is rightfully yours. I was in an attempted car jacking almost two years ago - punks ruined my Camry (first car, bought the day I turned 16 - paid in full through a lot of hard work). I never did get anything out of the a$$holes that rammed my Camry - stolen car, a$$ho!es fled the scene and the cops did nothing. However, a few months later I stepped up into my C.

Not sure how it works going after the Miata's insurances. If you do, I hope it does not negatively impact the owner of the Miata - since he had his car destroyed as well.

Reading stories like this make me heavily consider purchasing a gun.

Good luck with your recovery (physically and financially).

In some states the insurance company is liable to reimburse you for any diminished value after the car is repaired. You might want to check with a lawyer in your state to determine if you can make such a claim before the insurer decides whether to have the car repaired as opposed to totaled.

This reminds me of what happend to me about 3 years ago. My wife was leaving the mall(uncommon for her) and Wamho! A 98 OLDS hit her dead in the fender in the parking lot in her 2000 Lexus ls400 platinum edition . He was traveling about 40mph. It did $5300 damage.. Fender/ xenon headlight hood bumper wheel etc.. Anyway she called me and told me what happened and I asked what kind of car hit her.. She said"its a 98 olds." I was like 98 oldsmobile they probably have insurance no big deal..
Well it turns out he had no Drivers liscense and of course no insurance..The car was borrowed and was illegally registered(stolen plate) The police called his home and the guy who owned the car answered he said he did not know he had the car out and it was not supposed to be on the road. Then the police officer does a check on the guy and he has a warrant for not serving time for something minor(public intoxication I thiink) The officer asked why he was at the mall flying sideways thought them mall parking lot and he replied" I came to get a Magazine" he was holding a copy of CARCRAFT. His car was towed off to the impound lot and ours to the body shop. Now get this, the cop gave the guy the OPTION to turn himself in within the next 7 days to jail. What the hell, I would have been under the jail if I had did 1/3 of the **** this guy had done. That is total bullshot, what idiot is going to turn them self in when they already have a warrant. My wife called me back and said he did not have insurance. Next I said what on a 98 oldsmobile she said No its an 89 olds ninety-eight. I was like damn.. My supid *** did not have unisured motorists coverage an I was **** out of luck. I got it fixed for 3500 after buying a used headlight off of ebay. Live an learn, insurance of all kinds is a must because its usually not what you do to yourself..

Sorry for the novel, just reminded me and I wanted to share..

Man, that is really an unfortunate event. Sorry you had to go through all of that.

I've got a 3 forms of defense for these types:
1. 150 DB Train Horn

2. FN FiveseveN in the day planner next to me

3. Krebs KTR-03S 5.45 AK-74 in the trunk (2nd from left)

This combo has served me well thus far. Nobody has endured passed level 1.

I wish I was in a place where I could legally have fired on the guy. I would have taken his head off after the second hit. If it was legal here in So.Cal, I would have my Sig P229 in the car with me at all times just like I did when I was attending Univ in AZ.

Someone needs to be ostracized from here. Last thing VelocitE55 needs is crap coming out of your mouth.

I know that area well and live wthin 15-20 minutes away, in fact I had dinner with the family two nights before Thanksgiving at Benihana on Ventura Blvd, living in the valley for 27 years it has changed for the worst. I try to keep the Desert Eagle very close for peace of mind.
