Ok guys....I take your points...IMHO millage makes some difference...

Race same millaged E55 vs M5...to be 100% sure...who is faster...

Understand ME right...I dont want to assume...As a future owner of E55 (6 long months) and I want E55 to be faster as well...

When it comes inn, 1st thing I am going to do is go to a local Street Racing place, where I will 99% find NEW M5 and race with IT...and I will post the videos...

We need to see real stock vs stock races...I find hard beleive that BMW M division is that stupid to make NEW M5 slower the E55 in the straight line...

heres the same guy over at 6speeds that finally set the m5 up right and raced.He wasnt in p500 sport just like I said to my self the first time I watched the vids.

p500s vs tt

car and drivers results sound like a 500hp car also for you that questioned the cars power

0-60: 4.2 sec
0-100: 9.4 sec
1-150: 20.7 sec
1/4 mile: 12.5 sec @ 118 mph

with the weak usa L/C im sure it could get a solid 4 to 60 and a 12.2@120 with the euro L/C

theres a guy over at m5boards that has done over 30 4k L/C so far and is being a test dummy for the clutch

now what do you all have to say about gustuvs m5?maybe some should even send him an appology for all the **** you guys gave him.

It is simply lame to say m5 needs 10K miles and it will run stronger. I mean it is really really lame.

I will go plunk down 100K on a car, and wait for about a year so that it will run stronger. Heck if I have other cars, how long do you want me to wait for the m5 to be stronger or faster?

The car has a v10 500hp engine out of the box, and it needs to run strong out of the box. I would undertsand the 1800 mile break in, but that is it and should be it. After that you should be able to load up the car and run it like you stole it.

Imagine if Ferrari or Lamborghini said hey guys spend a few hundred K on our cars, but you gotta drive it 10K miles to get the best performance from your brand new Ferrari this that or your Gallardo. Wouldn't the owners laugh their butts of for that?
For goodness sake how many people actually put 10K miles on their Ferrari over the period they own it??

Sometimes the excuses to defend the m5 are just lame.

Anyways, about the E46 M3 engine thing, I have had two of them and run them fairly hard from the get go. Nothing crazy but I just gradually got into it and drove it like I was going to before the official breakin mileage. The problem with those engines wasn't anything about how it was broken in, it was about the defective rod bearing that couldn't handle the load over time, Which was fixed a la BMWNA. I did indeed throw a rod through the block on one of mine so I know what's going on with them.

I really can't wait to see some official races of the M5 against the E. I think they should already be tracking them against us instead of complaining about breakin mileage, I know there are plenty of them out there to have some comparisons.

I know that the new V10 uses a lot of oil and requires some special attn but the M5s have been out for a few weeks now and we should really start seeing some results from all the hype. *cough* Gustav anyone?

I am having that thank you I was actually very glad to see the correct settings for the BMW M5 in Canada was made (P500S), so it seem to accelerate in par with the Swedish M5 in May. In ran even to the Lamob Gallardo and also tie to a 911 Turbo X50 tuned by Techart 510 HP. So beating the 911 Turbo there in Canada just seemed logical to me.

The one that kept with the m5 for a while was the 997Cs
it is not a turbo.... just the S...

I think it's funny that people are unloading the new M5 faster than Worldcom or Enron stock. It says a lot that owners decide to dump their cars soon after taking delivery...hmmm...funny, I don't remember that happening when the first W211 E55's or 996TTs were delivered.
