Jacking up E55?

Where are the lift points in the rear to jack up the E55? Can I jack right at the pumpkin? I'm going to be bringing a jack and tools to swap tires at the track tomorrow and would like to know a safe place to lift the car.

Thanks!

I changed to winter wheels/tires two weeks ago. I just looked and felt underneath the car and they were pretty easy to find. Just feel for the gap in the plastic.

Yeah
Wayne that is the best way to do it just place a towel over the jack so you don't scratch the heat fins under the pumpkin. With the factory jack you can only change one wheel at a time. The lifting points have square boxes to receive the factory jack they are located behind the front fender and in front of the rear fender. Hope this helps -Albert.

Not to sound like a dufus, but what's the pumpkin? Is that the differential?

I jacked at the jack points, but I used a floor jack. I didn't want to get my factory jack all dirty

Yes the differential , pumpkin is the muscle car term for it.

I have a big aluminum jack that I'm bringing to the track, so I'll bring a towel and jack right up at the diff (yes, the pumpkin ).

Thanks, guys!

Maybe someone else could chime in, but that scares the crap outta me.

These rears are a lot different than the old fashioned boat anchor posi units that you could basically balance the entire car on.

You think it could damage it? It is a 2 ton tank...

Just curious as to why you wouldn't just jack her on the jack points near each wheel on the sides. You just wanna nail um both at once??

Jack it from the points in front of each rear tire with the stock jack. The points are square holes that can be seen and felt about 8-10 inch in front of the rear fender wells. Remember to break the wheel bolts loose first then jack it up and make sure the emergency brake is on!!!! Re-torque after letting the car back down.

Cordless impact and my 1/2" torque wrench. No worries.

I looked under the car and my portable, aluminum jack will work great with the stock lift points in front of the rear tires.

I know you prolly know this but just in case, be sure to lube the lugs before torqueing them. Does anyone know how tight to torque them to? My Vette is torqued to 100ft-lbs.

Owner's manual says 96 lb/ft or 130Nm.
