The hood emblem I have is EXACTLY the same as Mario's, except for the $129- metal post, like I said. Did you look at the images I posted in that link? Compare my pics to one of Mario's, and then tell me these aren't the exact same ornaments!
The reason for the sarcasm in my post (this is about the third time I have posted about this), is not about the money, not because I'm cheap, not because I opt for "fake" equipment on my $100K car, its the prinicpal of someone so blatantly overcharging for an inexpensive item because they know they can get away with it since they have a deep-pocket client base that doesn't think twice about dishing out a few extra bucks for stuff like this. If the actual ornament piece can be sold for a profit on e-bay for $20-, how much do you think it costs Mario to get one with a post soldered onto the back? $25 or $30 at the most? At $30-, he is charging a 400% mark-up. Even a jeweler would think that 400% is probably excessive. And some of you, who have bought these ornaments from him, are saying that the "quality and workmanship" can't be matched, or glowing words to that effect, thus perpetuating his ability to rip off others looking for this item. The truth is, the quality and workmanship are exactly the same as the $20- one that I have, except for the metal post. Further, if the workmanship were so superb, then where are the five diagonal lines, in increasing thickness, immediately to the left of the "AMG" letters in the "official" corporate logo - didn't anyone notice that?! I just am pointing out that there is an alternative out there, for those who may not wish to support the business of someone who practices with this ethic. Same thing with the tires I buy - I do not buy them from the MB dealership because I know they will overcharge me since that's what they do with everything they sell. I don't buy them from the dealership and pay the mark up and then suggests that everyone else do the same because "the workmanship can't be beat" - you guys would laugh me off the boards! Final word, and then I'll stop - I would be willing to bet, that if this item were for sale by Jerry at ForMyMercedes.com, for example, he would be selling it for $35- at the most. I only mention Jerry because I have dealt with him frequently on small cosmetic things for my car (illuminated door sills, AMG-logo pedals, CL grille) and he ALWAYS delivers high quality items at a reasonable price and backs it up with good customer service (he recently sent me some replacement ribs for my CL grille at no charge, when I told him the paint was bubbling). In fact, I think I'll suggest to Jerry that he look into adding this item to his inventory. I did not really mean to get this deep into this issue, but the $149- price you guys seem to be happy with paying Mario just irks me.
Happy driving!
P.S. - Sorry, I made a mistake above - I paid $15- for my emblem, not $20. So Mario's metal post must be worth $134-, not $129. My bad.

When you see the quality, you will know it was money well spent! The cheap ones look like what they cost, I know from experience!
