I guess you both are talking about the two motor air filters.
1. Grab hold on each side of the black filter case on top of the motor and pull up. It takes a little muscle, it is only held on by four metal flex clips
2. Remove the two black snokels (left and right).
3. Once removed form the motor, turn the filter box over and you should see 10 or so torx head screws that need to be removed.
4. After all 10 or so are removed, pull the box apart like a PB&J sandwhich.
This whole job is about a 20min from removal to reinstall.
good luck, I hope some of that made sence.

I did it! Just like you said. Thanks for the help because I never would have figured that out. I put in K&N filters. My OEM filters each had maybe a little less than shot glass of dirt sand and leaves in there. That's not normal is it?
Now I am on my way to 13 secs with my filters Next is my Kleemann ECU remap. Anyone with experience?

Glad I could help. I had Powrechip before I got the blower and it gave me 23hp and 25tq the lighten pullies gave me about 6wheel hp. My car was a 13.3 1/4mile car and I soon hope to get a 12.4 once I get my drag tires.

Thank you AgE55 for the nice words. I'm always happy to help if I can and I try to learn from all the other members. This is my first MB, and like you I'm from the BMW forums (M3 and 540i). Welcome to the board and post some pics of your ride, if you have some.
Take care
Mario

Are your lightened pullies on your NA E55? What exactly are lightened pullies and what might they get me in HP?
Thanks, T-boy

They are made by EvoSport and replace the water pump, alt, and steering pulley, and yes they are for N/A cars. They are a little lighter and larger so they spin less. It is all based on spinning mass. Any time you make something that spins lighter is free's up horsepower. Example (lighter wheels, drive shaft, brake rotors, flywheel etc...) They cost about $340 and $100 to do the install. The HP claim is 10 wheel hp but I really didn't feel anything. I still have them on my car even with my supercharger.

Will definitely post some pics once I am done with current mods. Actually, my car looks very much like yours....except for wheels (Carlsson 1/6, 19's). I have reviwed many of your posts and it always seemed very informative, I am currently doing the suspension, opted to go with the Eurospec set up so not to sacrifice the ride quality. Will get some pics and will be talking to you again.

Took me more than half a hour the first time I figured it out.

Now, its just a 7-10 minute job. Thank Mercedes for being different than everyone else. :p
