RENNtech or KLEEMAN

I have a 2006 E55 and I am looking to add some upgrades to it. I talked to KLEEMAN and to RENNtech and although KLEEMAN is cheaper for what seems to be more power RENNtech has a much longer warranty. Can any one help me with the choice?

You have the KLEEMANN set up what do you think? Any problems with the car after you did it? Does the car feel the same except the power?

Kleemann offers bumper to bumper warranty if you want it. It is like your MB warranty, it covers everything.

Talk to Cory at Kleemann USA

All 3 are good tuners, but do the research and go with the one you feel is right for you! You need to feel good about who will mod your $90K plus sedan.

How much extra is the warranty? How do you like your set up? your 1/4 time is what I am looking for. Hows the sound any louder then stock? How much was the ic mod? Did you go to Colorado to have the work done?

You need to do a search on both companies. I will start you here: KLEEMANN

Well, Kleemann doesn't offer the warranty... they refer you to the Exotic Warranty Company, which I'm in the middle of doing. They supplement anything Mercedes doesn't cover.

It ain't cheap though. I'll be posting a new thread on this once I've finished going through it all with them... every little detail I'll post, promise.

Easy decision -- KLEEMANN

Here's what RennTech gets you -- a lot of bills and headaches -- https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c55-amg-w203/129527-c55renntech-dyno.html

You are correct sir Waste of money if you are just doing ECU/Pulley/Headers since these mods are bullet proof. It is designed more for those that are adding a SC to a NA engine.

K1,K2,K3 mods are not that invasive

I would not think a warranty on Kleemann parts will pay for an MB engine if it fails. I would think that the Kleemann warranty will pay for replacing the headers or pulley, etc. if they are defective.

I went with RennTech because I live in FL and the dealership took care of it for me prior to delivery. I just have the ECU and chip, though. BUT, if I was doing other stuff, and didn't mind shipping my car halfway across the country, I'd consider Kleeman because all I have heard on these boards is that the product is excellent and Cory provides outstanding and unsurpassed customer service.

Kleeman is respected throughout the world, and has been for some time. Renntech seems to be earning respect, and alot of Renntech customers are very satisfied with their mods and got help from Renntech when they had a problem... Go with the one that is most convenient to you for servicing...if you need any?

Just my .02 being a dealer and installer for both compaines, we recomend Kleemann products. Everyone that has done anything Kleemann is always happy, and we've never had a single problem with their products. Cory and Brandon are awesome - very helpful and the cars make unbelieveable power!

...and RPM Racing did both installs I originally had Renntech pulley and ECU and was, quite frankly not blown away with the difference in performance from stock. My expectations may have been out of whack though. I had no issues for the close to a year I had the parts. I decided I wanted headers and started to do some research. I sent e-mails to both companies and the difference in responses to my questions was not even close. Kleemann was much more responsive and informative. I continued to bombard Cory with questions over the next couple of months and he always answered promptly and with as much info. as I could possibly want.

I ordered the headers and he told me that I should keep my Renntech pulley as it's a very good product and no need to spend extra dollars on the Kleemann (just made me a customer for life with that move!). I was then pleasantly surprised to find out that while the car was at RPM Cory asked them to ship him my ECU which he re-flashed at no additional charge to me. I also went with their IC mod.

My decision to go with Kleemann was mostly for their superior customer service. Their products aint bad either!! No LSD or drag radials yet so my best 1/4 is around 12 flat at a hair under 120mph, but my dyno is pretty strong - 484 rwhp and 550 tq. I will say there was a much bigger gain in the "butt dyno" when adding the headers/Kleemann ECU compared to when I added the REnntech pulley, ECU from stock.

I'm actually thinking of doing not because I think the mods might fail... or they will cause a failure... but rather as insurance against an irrational dealership that BLAMES my mods on some failure.

For example, even if I get more cars, I know I'll have this E55 for years... let's say my supercharge just dies at 80,000 miles after lots of use. I mean, I've had supercharged and turbocharged everything in my life, and they ALL eventually die at SOME point. What I don't want is MB saying that pulley or that ECU upgrade caused it... blah, blah, blah. Probably won't happen. But on the off chance I'm one of those guys that blows his tranny or engine up just because I got a bad apple, and not the mods, I don't want to caught in the position of haggling with MB eternally over replacing that 35K engine or 10k tranny.

Plus, I drive hard. If anyone has a history of blowing things up, its me. Never forget the BMW 850 on NOS at 80mph... a silly injector seized... 1 of 12 of them and bam, that piston turned into DUST, blowing a hole right through the side of the block. Incredible sight and sounds.

The fact that this company would warranty that kind of mod for the right price is incredible. So the K2 is more stable obviously... but its not without some small risk... or at the least, the potential for MB to discriminate against it and blame it, even if its not at fault..
