Sold the BEAST - Bought the BEAST
Hi All
I know its really dumb to switch out a car after only 18 wonderful months, but I have had a CLS55 with the 030 package on order for some time now and it finally arrived on Saturday.
So having run my best 1/4 mile at 12.169, with an awesome 60ft of 1.78, and a best trap speed of 115.5mph, (all bone stock) I said fond and very sad farewell to my E55.
It was by far the most fun car that I have ever owned. I got a smile on my face everytime I climbed in, and that smile would last for hours after I got out. My wife said it was the best investment in my mental health that I have ever made!!!
So now I am a proud owner of a black CLS with LSD and composite brakes. Wasnt that fond of the Sl65 3-piece wheels when I first saw her, but they are growing on me.
Took lots of pics of the new beast - you can see them here at CLS55 with 030 package
But I am not leaving this forum - this is where most of my "buddies" are and this is where I got hooked (thanks APK1013 and Improviz) - I of course will lurk in the CLS forum from time to time!!!!

that picture in Rock's post above makes it appear that the front rims are larger diameter than the rear. Even though this is not true, the slope of the whole body does tend to make the rear wheels of CLS' look sort of piddly.
but i like them now much more than i did a couple of months ago.
Danny, that's a really nice car, and your photos really do it justice!

PS did you ever get that CD I mailed you of the AMG Challenge videos I shot. If you did I think it would be neat to get them up for ther forum members to see.
Take care,
Eagleeye

WOW!!! What a gorgeous car!!
Break it in and let us know how the difference is. Was your E55 an '05 by any chance? I'm wondering if you had the "updated" (i.e. CLS) steering rack. If so, I really want to know the differences.
Congrats on the car!!

beauty & the BEAST...
the beauty outside and the BEAST inside the hood.
Please take pictures of the interior. We would like to see what you get with the 030.
Definately the LSD and the brakes make it worth it.
One more thing, I read from another member on the CLS board, that his 030 CLS window sticker did not mention the LSD. It listed everything else but the LSD. Is this a common thing?
have you notice it kick in?

2005 E55 AMG
Great looking car, Danny!
I need to hire you to take pics of my beast (a few of your models draped over the fenders, across the hood would be nice, too!).
After seeing Schiz's gorgeous CLS55 up close at the Atlanta AMG event last spring, I was sorely tempted to place an order for an 030. However, as much as I love the CLS, the E better fits my practical needs right now.
Best of luck with the new Beast and take it to the track whenever your break-in philosopy allows. Given the mileage diff, it may be hard to compare times until the CLS is a bit more "experienced".
Two thumbs up!
