I'm no "baller" but I do well and I work for it. Sales is what I do and I love it because you get out what you put in. Bottom line is sales allowes you to work smarter not harder and the benefits are limitless. I couldn't see myself working for someone who can say "you've met the salary cap sorry..."

Play your cards right, learn from your mistakes (cause we all make them), have a plan with goals associated and go for it.

America's abundance was not created by public sacrifices to the common good, but by the productive genius of free men who pursued their own personal interests and the making of their own private fortunes. – Ayn Rand

HAHA!

Now I know why you're not driving an SLR. You've got to change your stomping grounds, Icky Ricky -- I know what they pay for wet work down there, and they don't pay enough (hearsay has it, anyway).

Or is it because you like the food and women down there? I could understand how a young man with raging whoremoans might get his priorities all (pardon the pun) screwed up -- but stay Stateside or go East, young man...and get yourself a real set of wheels! LOL

So far everyone here has been right. Work hard, be dilligent, etc. One thing I didn't see was to treat other people with respect and courtesy. No one likes a jerk and a lot of times it's who you know not what you know. You never know who you'll run into or who those people know. A negative attitude will turn people off in an instant whether they be coworkers or investors. People like to deal with those they can get along with and if you have a likable attitude they'll think of you first.

I can't drive the SLR because it attracts too much attention. Hitmen can't have attention, it's bad for business...

Well I'm still in college and I work at a call center but I own a business with my father in Costa Rica and soon in Panama. Ask yourself why owning business and work for someone. Well what I make from work is for school. Like someone said "Education opens the door to money." And like my fathers says "Sometimes you have to learn the values of life on your own. Then you realize if you end up working for someone or owning your business."

Well I dont have an AMG nor I can afford an E-class or I cant even afford to an M3. But I was able to get a '92 BMW in high school (class of '02) and a '02 MB c240 for college.

But the words of wisdom that I've read here is very inspirational.

So far I've been blessed.

Yeah, I was thinking about that earlier today...The reason that you don't drive an SLR is because you've got to keep a low-pro or the locals might get on to ya'...and then it would lead to the Feds and all -- and that would be bad for business, for sure....

Still I think that you should consider - just for the revenue-enhancement side of it - surreptitiously getting in some recon on some other turf. I'm tellin' ya', there's better pay than S.A. (or is it the whoremoans after all?)....

Connections matter, BUT no way are they the be all and end all. I saw all the right answers by many, but vrus hit the nail on the head. Get a CAREER. Whatever it is that you have a passion for. Also, INVEST!! Chasing these two things will get you what you need. All the motivation (12 hour days seem to be common for us), education, risk, etc. comes from chasing these dreams. I'm a Scientist. My salary wouldn't pay off ANY of my cars in any time soon. But, I've grown at that position and am about to open my OWN. Things could go either way. That's where the risk mitigation comes in by the investments. You have to want something (not money) and GO after it. If I fail, so what? I'll try again. And again, and again.

Last thing, let me add one thing that will help. A supportive family. My parents have always been there, and my wife and kids are the same. We may live it up, but if we lose it all we move into a one-bedroom condo as a family and start again. You can't stop ME!!!! Be strong and don't worry about the next dude. There's always people that "have" more. Stop counting the money and it will multiply faster.

Once I move back to Europe, then I'll pick up a SLR. I think I'll be needing it. I heard from a co-worker that the attention is needed in Europe, complete opposite of S. America.

We'll see how it plays out.

Nice one. I bought it in 1991 and sold out too early in 1998. I was too poor to afford enough to make it a life changing event, but it got us through hard times when I lost my job.

Perhaps that question is better left unanswered...

you have a great outlook on life, to be happy with what you have.

as a youngster (21 years old) its good to hear and take to heart the wise words of the ppl that have been throught this stage already.

being successful in life isnt easy, but with the right attitude anything can be achieved.

LOL, that's pretty funny.. I just got Cisco about a year ago. HAHAA talk about behind the curve. I was at least lucky enough to be in stocks up to my neck in the late '80s early '90s. I got out of MOST of my stocks in 1999 (just got scared) and put most of the money into California rental properties.
