- Mercedes-Benz E-Class AMG: How to Reset Your ECU
Step by step instructions for do-it-yourself repairs
Gonna try resetting ECU/Tranny....let's see what happens.
Anyway proceeded to do some launches and I can really tell a difference in shifts. Someone said it best....feels like the car had a tune up or something.
I COMMAND all of you to try this (well if you are not happy with your current setup). I just know now my car set me up wimpy due to long highway miles after driving back from Klee. Enjoy!!!
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.
It unquestionably makes a tremendous difference!
Many people seem to be divided on this..... some say it is possible and very easy to re-set adaptations for the 7-speed through STAR while others say it is not so easy
thanks, I'd really appreciate that

Looks as if the ETC adaptations can be reset for both upshifts and downshifts...
Take a look:

The reset:

Completed:
Photo of my setup, interface in under laptop (still stays cool) with cables tucked nicely away. Generally they run on old IBM T30s (I found a like new fully loaded for cheap) or an external drive for other computers.

Member Shardul here has them for a good price plus he is located locally (US) vs China. If you get the right setup you can access MB WIS and EPC-Net (available for free anyhow).

Perhaps a dumb question, is there any concern sneaky ECU reset can affect an aftermarket tune?
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.

3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

I've tried it once and it seemed to work, but there seems to be no substitute for slammin' the throttle and letting the system learn by itself.
Welcome others experience.QUOTE=Jakpro1;3498710]LOL, ya know, I was one of the first to post on this years ago and we've gone round and round so much that I honestly forgot which position it is supposed to be in.
I don't mess with it much anymore as I have a Star and just wipe tranny adapts with Star.
I know FOR SURE it has nothing to do with "not touching" that kickdown switch at the bottom of the pedal so don't worry bout that. Hold her allll the way down.
Biggest thing (IMO) is not to open the door or disturb the car after the reset. Just sit there for 3 mins. If you have a watch, you can time it and you'll here a "click" under the dash. Not sure what exactly happens but she's a whole new beast after that click.
Who would have thought that resetting those tranny adapts would make such a huge impact.[/QUOTE]
