Has anyone been able to place a deposit on a w211 E55 yet? I read that the build date is next year and was wondering if dealerships are taking reservations.

long term project, hopefully i can expect to get a W211 E55 by june of 2003. Gives me plenty of time to get completely sick and disgusted of my w220 hehe
and allows me to sell my car, still under warranty, for a pretty decent price.

For real....
Gives me plenty of time to get completely sick and disgusted of my w220...
Did you consider the 2003 S55? It will have the 500HP supercharged engine and it looks like it wil be in US prior to the W211 E55.
E class is much more a value. Plus, since it is new styling, I could potentially keep it for longer. The w220 s class is slated for a change in 2005.
One of the main reasons why I didn't buy the W210 E55 was because it was near the end of the life cycle.. gotta stay one step ahead!

The sales mgr. called me Today, W211/E55 is going to production
from Sept, few pilot cars will send to the Frankv show
and debut to the world.
Option & color is now on quote, right before production.
Aircargo can be arranged in the middle of Sept if I'm ambitious
to be the first batch OWNER.
No ! no budget this year .......

My dealer told me if i put a deposit in september i'm gonna get the car may/june 2003.....but i'm still in a big dilema to sell my 745i and get e55 or to roll on my 7 for another 2 years form now and see what new M5 will be like.... hard choice.... still love new e class...%) !
Im suprised you were #3 on the list, from talking to my sales rep. and the sales manager they were not even sure if they could take a deposit yet and said that no one had put a deposit down yet. Ill try to give them a call this weekend and see what they say, everyone at HBL is a little backwards.
Thanks
They did take a $1000 deposit. I actually signed the order form which simply states that I will be getting the car at Market Value (which I believe is the real price of the car and not some marked-up price). Talk to them and ask which is your place on the list. They told me that at the end of every month all orders are put into a database (probably a list of names) and places on the list depend on the date on which the order was placed.
