RENNtech ECU and pulley definitely work......

Recently had RENNtech modify my ECU and pulley on my E55 (everything else is stock). World of difference. With a bad launch (1.93 60') the car ran 11.80 @ 120.96. The e.t. doesn't tell the story since the 60' was horrible. The mph does.

The breakdown is as follows:

60' 1.930
330' 5.803
1/8 7.688
mph 94.04
1000' 9.930
1/4 11.803
mph 120.96

(Submitted timeslip to dragtimes.com. Should be up soon. Thanks Fiske)

The car will obviously run 11.60's with a 60' in the 1.7s (Next time). Driveability is same if not better than stock, but the car pulls like a freight train. Special thanks to Hartmut, Jeff and Bob @ RENNtech.

Damn...RENNTech, me likey!!! I've been seriously considering dropping the coin for some of their mods. Those improvements over stock are impressive.

Do you have the RENNtech headers as well? If not, do you have any other engine mods? That mph at nearly 121 is mighty fast compared to other times I remember seeing on the board.

Stock exhaust. No other mods other than K&N filters.

I recommend taking the trip.

Prior best of 117mph (on your site), but most were high 116.

Very nice. I think I will go with Renntech over Kleemann because their headers do not require any welding and they keep all emission equipment and do not remove any O2 sensors.

My experience with RENNtech was first rate. Hartmut is a true professional. It is my understanding that he was technical director of AMG North America for a while. This was part of my decision to use RENNtech.

I believe it does; however, my focus was the quarter mile. Accordingly, I didn't really care, since 155 mph can get me in plenty of trouble.

Not sure. Want to get the best e.t. with current set-up. Then will decide. Also, I've been contemplating buying an SL65.

I think it is great that you have an 11 second street car with or without headers. I might do like you did and try the pulley and ECU and see what it runs like at that point. If I can get it into the 11 second range without any visible mods, I might just stay at that point. Haven't made up my mind as of yet. I was tentatively thinking about doing the full set up, including the air box and throttle body. After reading about your performance, I am re-thinking my plan. Well, congrats on your successful mod.

Have you been to the track with your car? If so, what did you run?

Drag radials will push most stock E55s to the 11s.

I am sad to report that I have been rather derelict in my duties. I have not yet been to the track. I suppose that would be a good first step. I can say one thing, though; it accelerates from 70 to 150 with ease. I know they all do that and to really test it, I need to get my butt to the track.

High 116s puts your car into the upper tier of performance for a stock E55 - somewhere near 535 HP. Going from high 116s to 121 mph in the 1/4 mile would be indicative of a 60 HP increase for a 4300 pound mass. Adding headers would get you near 123 mph - not a bad number for your mods.

BTW - 1.9 sec is not a bad time for an E55 with street tires. Be proud.

Renntech

Good to hear that you are pleased with the results. I am strongly considering the same thing. My best times at the track so far bone stock are in the 12.2X range. Of course this is on Conti's but I would love to drop down below the 12 second mark with a simple pully and chip upgrade. In talking to Dynocomp here in town who would do the upgrade it is my understanding that it takes the limiter to 186mph. Do you mind me asking how much it was to do the job? I am not sure but I think Dynocomp said it was around $5000.00 including labor but don't qoute me on that. I asked a couple of months ago and wasn't very serious about any mods at the time.

Yes. You mentioned that you want to run 11s, but you haven't been to the track yet!! Get to the track a few times and strap the car on a dyno, so you can have a good baseline before any mods. Beware, racing at the track is addictive

I've seen 114-118mph traps on here from stock E55s. Why do you think 116 is in the upper tier?

Some tracks prep better than others - we're lucky here in MD, it seems like VHT is free and some of the tracks aren't afraid to use it I've run in the 1.7s 4-5 times on my stock Contis. I saw DJe55 run in the 1.6s on his 18" Toyo Proxes street tires
