Factory rims and spacers
Hi,
What is the maximum size spacers I can run witht the factory rims? There are 10mm, 15mm, and 20mm spacers for the E55.
I am considering going to 19s but am not sure I'm ready for the negative handling and driveability impact. Potholes here in LA are pretty bad.
I have them on my other car and going to 19s had a big impact.
Thanks,
Oliver

Just a wider wheel track and cosmetics if your wheels are currently too tucked in.
If you are getting aftermarket wheels, get a setup which doesn't require setups made for your car. Lot less hassle.

You did not mention the most important benefit: A wider track means improved handling without the drawback of more road impact due to wider/lower profile tires.

Iou am not sure what you mean when you say "impact".
As far as performance goes adding spacers will only throw off the geometrics of the cars handeling.
Larger is not necessarely better.Your car will handle much better on the stock 18, but if it looks that you are going for go 19.....hell go 20 for that matter.

But ride will deteriorate to some degree with the lower profile tyres.
Spacers could introduce vibration problems.
Larger wheels are often heavier and this can affect performance - acceleration and damping/ride.
Do it for looks, then the rest is less important.
