E55 weigh in - post weight and options...

I'm curious to see how year/options/wheels effect the E55's weight....

I weighed my car at the track rental:

2005 E55
Navigation
Lighting Package
Rear Sunshade
CD Changer
Phone System
Stock wheels/tires
~1/8 tank of gas
no spare tire

4070 pounds

2005 E55
4340 with me in it and 1/3 tank of gas. My options are in my sig. I only weigh 155 lbs.

By the way, you may find that you run a bit quicker with more than 1/8 of a tank. There is some benefit to putting weight over the rear tires.

I went to the track 1 time with less than half a tank and traction was impossible with my street tires. The other 3 times I went I topped off the tank and had much better luck. That extra 60 pounds over the tires makes a difference. I think next time I'll throw a 60 pound sand bag or 2 in the trunk and see if I can dead hook. Every .10 second gain in 60 foot equates to about .20 at the finish. Best time to date is a 12.1 on a 1.81 60, and that was with a full tank and a 280 pound driver.

I'll weigh the car next time I go if the scale is working, but I'm guessing it's going to be close to 4400-4450 pounds.

Edit: Using Fiske's number of 4070 pounds(my car is similarly equipped), add in 30 pounds in stereo equipment, another 90 pounds in gas(full tank), and 280 for me, that comes out to 4,470 pounds.

i wonder if your traction issues were more of a coincidence rather than having to do with your fuel level. that old racers trick of filling up for traction doesn't really apply to these cars since our gas tanks are not over the rear wheels.

It certainly could have been, but any extra weight located somewhere in the middle to the rear of the car helps. When I made a few passes with a passenger it hooked up much better than without.

That would mean 20lbs per every 1/4 tank of fuel.

Sounds about right.
