You welcome Sir! Lead time is about 30 days! Remember the steering wheel is hand made! No core exchange needed!

That steering wheel looks like an MP Design steering wheel except it says Carlsson on the bottom piece of wood and it doesn't have the "-" "+" symbols where the shift buttons are located.

I bought mine from Autowerks for less than $2800. However, Autowerks is no longer around. I don't know who else carries it for less though.

I got mine too. It cost $1295. I think $1500 premium is a bit much for a "Carlsson" sticker
The picture of the Carlsson wheel is not for W211 - see the shape of the airbag which has to be carried over from OEM is totally different, leaving long bottom spokes.
MP Design has a slightly differently molded grip, shorter spokes and looks a bit thicker and chunky as a result. I love it.

I think Performance Products have carry them, and Jerry from Formymercedes carries something like the MPdesign... personally like the new Brabus wheels with the large paddleshifters... spendy but nice...

I've been told by CEC who sells the Brabus units it would be around $100.00, not sure if the dealers will do it or not....

If the dealer won't do it, does anyone know if there could be an effect on warranty?

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
Aparently the F1 pace car s/wheel is not certified/approved for use in the USA ... ferk knows why ... so mbe warranty issue there.

hmm, always thought there was a risk of accidental airbag deployment, which could blow your fingers off. you sure it's that easy on these airbag-wheels? (i've still got an old steering wheel puller from when i used to work on my '68 charger (now gone *sob*) -- those were easy greasemonkeying days by comparison to this car. although i suppose it's "easier" in a way to just reach for the wallet... ).

Yes it really is that easy. But just do it with someone who has done it before just to be safe.
