2005 E55
Hi,
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but the original post hits the nail right on the head for me. In my 05 E55, I've gone through a series of issues with a particular dealer, who at the end supposedly have fixed my cooling pump (I/C pump?). It's even shown on the work order. That dealership said that everything is in fine order, and no other codes are shown on the diagnostic. But my car refuses to break the tires loose, no more than a tiny "chirp", even in dyno mode. Yesterday I ran a buddy's 03 SL 500 and he took me by at least 3 cars by 80mph. Not good. I'm planning to bring it to another dealership since it's under CPO. So any recommendations on how to approach this issue? If it's true that no other codes are thrown, should I just tell them that the E55 is supposed to be scorching the tires but mine is not?
Thanks guys...

no need to scorch the tires.....some simple acceleration runs and a stopwatch will do the trick. put the car in sport mode and slow down to ~55mph... smash the gas and click the stopwatch at 60mph then click again at 90mph. You should be approx 3.6-3.8 seconds. If not....goto the dealer--buy a new bosch pump and goto another dealer and have them install it. u'll be out a few hundred but save the aggravation.

In my opinion, scorching the tires is allot more fun!!![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I had the same problem, feels like you lose 200 HP. Mine was the IC pump, replaced under warranty but its just the upgraded OEM version. WHen I do my HC upgrade I will upgrade the Pump as well.

gents,
don't make your lives more stressful dealing with the dealer.
Buy a OBD2 PC software and connector and monitor your IAT's.
If you hit 140F or higher you will start loosing power (pulling timing) hitting 180F above and no more compressor.
search Car Chip.. its a tiny device and cost is very affordable.
Anybody having issues with power, or doubts about power.. should start with OBD2 data first.
IC pump could be working fine.. maybe you have air bubble. Also IC pumps start failing with time.. they don't just die from one day to the next (unless they short out electrically)

I did buy the car from a dealer. Coming from a previous torque-less car, my butt dyno had no relative comparison. Yes it felt fast when I test drove it, but when the tires won't burn out and an SL500 beats me, then I realized something is wrong.
So air bubbles? Can you elaborate on that? The shop foreman at the new dealership I brought my car to today said something about not bleeding the lines when installing the new pump.
