Input on Generic Wheels ...

How much different are wheels like this in comparison to our AMG stockers?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8020057736

has anyone purchased generic AMG wheels? What is the general consensus?

Avoid... you don't know how they were made, what they're made of, etc. Last thing you need to do is be running wide open and have a wheel crack or split on you. I've seen it happen and it's ugly.

Generic AMG wheels

I agreed. STAY AWAY from them, we paid enough money for our E55 and the last thing you want to do is put these imitation wheels on. They are NOT made to standards! My buddy bought the Brabus replica and boy, he paid for them dearly when the rear right cracked... (1 1/2")... NASTY!!!

Good call...I can't believe you'd even consider replicas after two Kleeman 55's and two sets of HRE's.

............This is not as settled as it may appear from this thread. I definitely think it is wonderful to purchase "genuine" rims. The quality of replicas have improved greatly in the last few years and it does indeed bring up the question as to whether or not it makes sense to spend $6K on rims just to say you have "genuine" rims. I have a mix of replica and genuine LM6 rims on my CLK 32, and no one can tell the difference. The replicas are one piece and the genuine ones are two piece rims but visually, I am unable to tell the difference and there has definitely not been any difference performance wise. Funny thing is that I believe the replicas weigh less. LINK

HAHA... I really didn't consider it, I just wanted to know what everyone else thought about it.

But like Ted B. suggests... are the 6k originals better than the 1.5k generics? Who knows.... all I know is that I don't want to be the one to test it and find out... LOL.
