2004 E55 AMG
ok. in 5 weeks my E55 has been at dealer for 16 days (and counting). 1st day for warranty extension (thank god). 2nd day for new tires and alignment (awesome ride). 3rd and 4th for fuel module recall, 5th through 16 and counting to figure out why I have loss of power when I picked it up after the recall work. They have replaced the IC pump to no avail. They now believe it is the diverter valve and control module, which are hard to find parts and now the warranty company is screaming and sending adjuster to talk to dealer as they have now officially lost money on 3yr contract after only 40 days. They have taken back the rental they gave me and put me in a new C300 until it is fixed. They estimate another week. It will be..quote "better than new" when I get it back. Tick....tick...tick......

Day 21, diverter valve kit missing parts..dealer had to overnight parts from Germany. Said most parts for AMG have to be that way..hard to find.
Supercharger off, kit installed, today to be buttoned up and *ready*. Crossed fingers.
2008 C300 loaner not a bad car, sounds a bit mean but has no real power. Surprised a loaner has Sirius radio, a nice touch.

MB should get to the bottom of this S/C shut down, iron out the problem and fix via recall or whatever. If they expect to retain their well earned status as leaders of the industry it’s a no brainer on their part.
Q. As I don’t know the answer. Does the Shelby Mustang, Lightning, XK8R and other supercharged depreciating assets suffer the same fate with supercharger shutdown or is this BS isolated to MB product?

There is a recall to update the software and replace the secondary relay in air pumps:

...
I don't get the idea from reading the post that the relay is a new recall.

work is done. I/C pump dead. Diverter valve dead. Both replaced over period of 21 days. $3500 in parts & labor. $1800 warranty bought 2 months ago paid off BIGTIME. Only paid $200 dedcutible. Diverter valve was frozen in position where air is diverted away from supercharger and engine. they said with I/C pump dead and diverter valve stuck open, supercharger was disabled and engine intake was sucking wind.
car is back to old form and very strong. wooohooo!

Forgot to mention, it was at dealer so long partly because they could not get a problem code out of the the ecu...they were reduced to fishing. I told them of the I/C cooler TB(they didn't know of the TB..different story..don't get me started) and they replaced that, and THEN got a problem code that led to the diverter valve. So if they hadn't replaced the IC pump, they would still be guessing. What car doesn't throw a code when running so poorly its dumping most of its power? 0-60 with problem was 8 secs, 0-60 fixed is 4secs.

Oh BTW, this is the first time they have not insisted on a service feedback card being filled out. Didn't get thank you card and floormat protector in the car. Maybe because 21 days in the shop...Hmmmmmm.

My stock 06 has yet to experience SC shut down despite some hard running in hot S. Florida weather.
I was so concerned about it after reading the comments on this site, that when I bought the car, I installed the Johnson pump immediately. My dealer noticed the Johnson pump the first time I had it in for service and highly recomended I remove it just as quickly if I wanted to maintain my warranty.
They're *****s but that's another story.
Any way, I re-installed the factory pump a year and a half ago and have never had a problem.
Maybe they made a change in 06? It seems that a lot of 06's don't have this problem.

Brought it to dealer last night...BTW hood would not open since I got it back so added that to list. They fixed the hood easy enough..once open a spray of wd40 all around...OK. They said they didn't see the check engfine lite while they ran it. I said it was on for three days, they said no light. I asked the service guy to come around to the car while I started it. Got in and light came on right away. They said it didn't come on for them. What?
I don't know if these guys are going to be a problem long term but the warranty they sell at the dealer, that I bought, they confided only pays half labor cost for warranty work. I expect that these issues fall to the bottom of the list when they are busy.

Deeper and deeper..today it went for a full checkout on the check engine light. They said the diverter valve they installed last week was not functioning properly. They need to order a new one, from germany, will take 3 days, chief mechanic is on vacation...so nothing till next week. This will be under parts warranty, not my warranty. Whatever. Diverter valve was a $1000 part and $1500 labor...good god you simply can't own this car without a warranty. So since I bought the car 10 weeks ago, it has been in the shop 25 odd days and counting. Carfax only showed std service and a work for a door dent for past four years. I expect it will be in the shop all next week.

Back in shop to replace diverter valve and another code I got in the meantime..
Did some tests over weekend from highway rest stop exit onto highway: 85deg 80%humidity
0-60 4.2secs
0-100 9.0
0-120 12.6
speed is by speedo which probably reads a bit high. My BMW always read about 3% high.
maybe better when it comes back. They gave me a loaner 230...what a dog. they said two days at drop off. I expect a week or more.
