Looks like MB has given the E63 the S65`s front spoiler treatment. It look good! I believe we will see better speed numbers from the E63 over the E55.
The E63 has a 38hp advantage over the E55. Hp win races touque is pulling power. Plus the E63`s DOHC V8 is 55lbs lighter than the Kompressor V8!
E55 0-60 time was 4.3seconds. The E63s` 0-60 time should be 4.0seconds if not better.
Side by side comparo of the E55 vs. E63_________________________
Hay guys don`t just look at pictures! read about the improvements of the face-lifted E-Class! The improvements also have come to the E63 AMG!
The steering has been improved! it`s said to be 10% faster than the outgoing
E! The Chassie is said to be more responsive with standard Direct Control.
The best news is that SBC-Brakes has been droped in favor of conventional hydralic binders.

2006 E55 Black
Great photos, thanks.
I'll believe the E63 is faster than the E55 when I see the side-by-side drag slips. HP determines top speed, torque determines acceleration. At least up to 140 MPH, I don't see the E63 pulling ahead.
I believe MB had to ditch the supercharger to meet emissions and economy standards, not to get a better 1/4 mile time.

There has been much discussion on the speed comparisons, 1/4 mile and 0-60 times, much like that of the W211 vs the M5. As mentioned on the last post I will believe it when I see it. One thing is for sure, once you get the E63 you are basically stuck with the hp/torque numbers (limted increases available) versus easy tuning on the 55 motors.

Don`t forget about the new AMG modified G7! not only does it shift faster
than the 5-speed it has two extra gears which is a huge advantage with speed times.
Check this article out from Car&Driver. The SLK55 AMG has the same speed numbers as a six-speed manual Chevy Corvette! the C6 Corvette has 45hp
advantage. It also has 24lb-ft more than the SLK55 and the Corvette also
weighs 155lbs less. Yet the SLK55 can keep pace with it`s disadvantages.
The secret is the AMG modified G7 tranny.
The SLK55 also has the same speed numbers as the KompressorV8 E55 AMG.
If the AMG G7 can work this kind of magic with just 355hp and 376lb-ft. Image what it can do with 514hp 465lb-ft! the performance should be no less that stunning. The G7 mated to the M156 in the E63 AMG will leave the KompressorV8 with the 5-speed in the dust! I`d be willing to bet anyone on that!

the trap speed is way different from a SLK55 to E55..
of course the SLK weighs much less, but I agree the 7spd does wonders for cars.
I wished the my C32 had the 7sp... it would make me keep the car for many years to come.

Thanks for the great post.
I am sure that this new set up will significantly improve many performance numbers but by how much????? That is yet to be seen.
I will have to agree with Vic. I think power increases will be much harder to come by when compared to the 55s. Also, I do not think the new 6.3 cars will be dominating the top spots at Drag Times, any time soon.
I do like the new front end.

Topaz Blue M3.....to upcoming E63
Where'd you get those pics...
How'd you track down pics already? I was searching the web earlier today and there was nothing. Had settled on waiting until tomorrow or Thursday for official pics.
Have to say that it looks great. After reading all the posts so far about the E55 motor it's refreshing to hear about the possibility of the 7 spd making a marked difference in performance. Guess we'll have to wait and see. MB will probably rate it the same as the CLS63 (0-60 4.5 secs) but the true test comes at the strips and the magazine tests. Guess we'll see soon enough...
I for one am excited that I will have one of these beasts in my garage in the next few months...

That link is outstanding. Seems they have tweaked the exterior just a bit and gone 'hog -wild' for the bits and pieces, lights, handling, power, safety, new interiors etc. Would be something if the E63 handles better than the E55. Seems like that's the plan. Keep the info coming. Just keeps getting better and better. The link didn't mention much about the E63 tho. Hope they change the interior options for the AMG (or at least keep the Designo packages).
Of course w/ more electronic wizardry comes the chance for more problems. Oh well, chance I'm willing to take.....
