*** The Beast's New Look ***

I made a few changes and thought I would post some pics to get some opinions..

Finally installed my Euro bumper strips.
Put on the black AMG hood emblem and painted the grille.
Changed the wheels to Brabus Monoblock VI. Wanted a new set of wheels quick so I decided to try out these replicas to see if I like the new look.

What do you guys think?

Vic,

The black on black look is very menacing. I also love the AMG emblem (I have one) and the front grill.

I say, "that is the look to go with." Very, very nice!!!!

Otherwise it looks very very hot.

beautiful! Like those wheels better than the CCW (too thin of a spoke on those)

This is just what a beast should look like

Thanks guys!! I am liking the all black look quite a bit. I've got the CCW SP500and tires sold to a forum member.

The wheels are 19x8.5 & 19x9.5 with Michelin PS2 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. The one thing about the wheels is that they give the impression that they are smaller than the stock wheels because of the design of the spokes and lip. To make them look proper I would have to go to a 20" wheel but I didnt want to do that.

The other thing is that the rear of my car somehow is higher than usual all of a sudden.. The rear wheels have 1" - 1.5" of gap between wheel and fender now.. No idea why that is.

Vrus,

I see you are from GTA. I go to Toronto to visit the in-laws every 2 weeks and that QEW expressway is a Canadian Autobahn Can you tell me the best place to dyno car in Toronto? Once the E55 is properly brake-in I want to dyno it. TIA.

Vic,

Looks good although as what others have already said the wheels looks like they're only 18"s in size but nonetheless overall looks nice.

What's the aspect ratio of your old rear tire? If it's the same as your new rear (0.30), then your new rear tire diameter is 1/2" smaller than the old diameter. That will cause the tire/fender gap to increase by the same amount. If the aspect ratio of the front stayed the same (0.35), then the front gap increased by about 1/4".

The new tire diameter will also impact your speedometer calibration, if that matters to you.

The black-on-black scheme gives the car a menacing look. Keep it.

Vic...you car looks MEAN...Very nice !!!

Those 19 Brabus wheels look smaller more like 18's...

I assume you wnet for 275/30 not 285/30 cause of 9.5 size of the rears...

How do 275/30 grip compared to 295/30 you had before ???

vrus - awesome ....!!! very tastefully done.

I like the fact you can see the evosport intercooler / heatexchanger through the bumper grill .... it does seem though that this unit could be a little longer / larger - is this the case or is the curvature of the bumper a limitation in fitting ?

You had 295/30/19 on your CCW. That side wall is 6 mm taller, top and bottom, compared with the 275/30/19.
So, you have 6mm at the bottom, pushing the car up against the self levelling suspension, the car drops 6mm against the centre of the wheel to even things out. Now add the other 6 mm at the top of the wheel and your effective clearance is less 12 mm with the 295 than with the 275. I had the same thing happen when I went from 245/40/18& 275/35/18 to 255/35/19 and 285/30/19.
Your car looks fantastic!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I am not sure if I will end up keeping these Brabus style wheels, but I do know that whatever I replace them with will have black centers with polished lips.. I just love this look.

Call up John @ Horsepower technologies 905-795-1951. Tell him you are a friend of Vic with the E55.. He'll take care of you.

Well.. I had 295/30/19 on the rear before which were 26" tall. These 275/30/19 are 25.6" tall so I know I lost 0.4" in height but there is more gap than that..

Rgds Steve.
After looking at some pics of the SLR motor in the E55 I am looking into getting a custom heat exchanger made that will sit in front of the stock radiator and go down the height of the front bumper. I figure if I can increase the surface area by 4x I should see a significant cooling benefit.

The Evosport one is as big as it can be (both in depth and length).. There is no more room on either side in that mounting location.

I was expecting a 0.4" change but this looks bigger than that. Maybe the airmatic has to settle or I was just on an uneven road.. I guess I'll have to revisit the Star lowering and put it a bit lower.
