KLEEMANN K1 questions!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi everyone,

I was on the Kleemann website and wanted to seek some advice from all E55 owners that have their stages installed… From what I have read with everyone’s post it looks like the stage 2 is the most popular. Unfortunately the $8-10K for the upgrade is a little bit pricy for my pockets.

I was thinking of the K1 stage (Pulley + ECU) for just a little more edge on performance. My questions are:

1. Anyone have this installed and how much of a difference have you felt from stock power?
2. Will the K1 void out any of my MB warranties?
3. Roughly how much would the parts and installation cost in total?
4. Would I need to get any additional parts besides the pulley and ecu to complete the stage correctly?
5. I live in Northern California any recommendations on where to purchase the K1 kit and a good place to have it installed?

Thanks everyone, this forum rocks!!!!!!

Why go Kleemann when you can go Renntech? Besides, the Renntech team is visiting Nor Cal soon, Bay Area to be exact.

hi there,

any reason why you recommend the renntech unit instead of the kleemann other than them being in the bay area soon??? cheaper, easier to get, warranty, etc.... thanks

Price: Kleemann is cheaper than Renntech
Warranty: Only certain MB dealers that sells Renntech or Kleemann will not void MB warranty.
Reliability: I am sure different people have different opinions but it really depends on the person buying it.
Availability: I am sure both Renntech and Kleemann are easy to purchase through approved dealers.

If you are in the bay area try John Siau at Conversion Techniques in Oakland. He is an official Kleemann dealer and has done every Kleemann upgrade and conversion available, from C55's to SL65's.
They build race cars and are very reputable in the bay area.
No affiliation, I just know a few people who have sent their cars to John and are extremely pleased with his work. Renntech or Kleemann are both the way to go.

Hey JLP,

I'm also in the Bay Area and looking into performance mods for the E55... Is Conversion Techniques actually a solid place? I see some scary posts:
http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums...7264476-1.html

Anyone have any history with Siau? Good or bad? Need to make sure I'm taking my baby to the right spot!

Thanks,

Just go with the K3 (headers) now and be done with it! You'll probably end up there anyway LOL. I did. I had both Renntech and Kleemann and both are very good. I would give the edge to Kleemann in customer service, though.
