Sport 1 vs Sport 2
I've had my e55 for awhile now and I've been keeping it in Sport 2 because I thought it would be the tightest suspension or whatever, but I'm wondering what the real difference is? What do you guys keep your car in? any info is greatly appreciated.

The difference between comfort, sport 1, and sport 2 depends on the year your car was made. You can feel the greatest difference for '03 models. In later years, the difference between the 3 modes is small.

I feel a great difference, and i have an '05. I usually drove in comfort mode, but when i got my car lowered i switched it to Sport 2 and the handling got way stiffer.

I think I can tell the difference, but I haven't done a "blind" test or anything. Most of the time, I'm in sport 1. I'll put it in 2 on the freeway sometimes, particularly if traffic is light and I can hit the cloverleafs hard. I can definitely tell when I'm in comfort. I use comfort a lot on bad roads or in construction zones to save some impact on the wheels.

I'm glad to hear that.I thought there would be a much more noticeable difference between the modes.I keep mine in sport 2,not because I am always driving it hard. I just forget to check.

If you have after market shoes (19" or 20"), you can definitely feel the different in the settings. I like to drive in Sport 2 riding on 19" shoes but then again, it's personal preference...

yeah i beg to differ, in my '03 especially on freeways with sport2 you can feel every little bump and groove on the road. as soon as i switch it to sport1 i feel a little less harsh of a ride, then on comfort it completely smooths out for me and i feel little to no bumps. i haven't really tested out the difference in feel on corners but im usually in sport2 all the time and it feels tight. almost comparable to when i had a my clk208 lowered with eibachs and adjustable shocks. maybe im just super sensitive to the ride quality who knows. but i wouldnt doubt from what the responses have been that the '03 has probably more variance in setting.

On good or bad roads, Comfort will "float" and make you a bit sea sick, unless you've been driving yank-tanks all your life-then you'll still feel it's a "Euro"...
Sport1 rolls and pitches FAR less but still absorbs cracks and pot holes pretty well. Best compromise between "sporty" feel and comfort.
Sport2 is great on perfect roads , new motorways or track: it sits flat on corners too. On badly maintained roads, with pot holes, expansion joints, cracks, it will annoy you as it tends to transmit the shocks into the seat and steering a bit too much.
I drive 2005 in Sport 1, 95% of the time, switching to Sport 2 on the circuit.

driving on the bumpy, pothole filled streets in metro ny area. you will know the difference, not huge, but you will feel between comfort and sport2. comfort is soft, while sport2 feels more bumps.

I have an 03 E55 and can tell a big difference between "comfort" amd "sport 1". I can't tell much difference between "sport 1" and "sport 2", but I haven't really tested the difference much.
