doesnt hubcentric mean the hub bore is is the correct size? (not too big, not too small) on a wheel? So how could it be hubcentric and also use a centering ring? Am i missing anything here?

Why should you have to request it????

Hello all,

First post on this forum. Just bought a 03 E55. I came from an 04 Audi S4. I bought a set of Iforged wheels for my car and as soon as they went on the car, the clear coat started to peel. The wheels also needed hubcentric rings. When you spend 3 or 4k on wheels, these things should never happen. Needless to say, I won't buy another set from them. (Had customer service issues as well). Also, over at the Audi board, many people said their clear coat on the HRE wheels peeled. Kinda makes me scared to buy a new set of wheels. I always thought HRE was the king of wheels, but if you spend that kinda dough and have those problems, it isn't worth it to me.

Did iForged replace your broken set of wheels? What kind of customer service issue did you run into?). No matter what kind of wheels you buy, as long as the vendor stand behind their products to fix any issues after the purchase...

Cyan1,

Dont worry about the discount I asked for earlier, I dont want to buy any wheels if they have these kind of issues (quality & customer service)... Thanks...

I sent 1 wheel back because of the clearcoat issue. I sent it in because I was told it would be fixed under the 1 year warranty. Well, when it was time for them to send it back, they made me pay for the repair. I paid what it cost them. I figured it was the only way to get the wheel back. Pay the 200 for the fix and get the wheel back or have 3 wheels sitting at home. I was pissed and wont buy from them again. I wouldn't have sent them the wheel if I was going to have to pay shipping there, the 200 for the fix, and return shipping. I would have had it done locally for alot less. Oh well, you live and learn.

There are the two ways to center wheels when you mount them. Lug-centric wheels use the lug nuts themselves to center the wheel. Hub-centric wheels center the wheel around the hub. Most aftermarket wheels make the hub hole (center-bore) a perfect fit or sometimes oversize them and use adapter rings (hub-centric rings) to center the wheel on the hub. Hub-centric rings are either metal or high temperature plastic. If you don't use them, your wheels will tend vibrate. I hope this helps.

It's time to pick the RIGHT size of tires...

Wheels are 19x8.5 & 19x10...

I am going with PS2 and which combo below is politically correct:

245/35/19 & 275/30/19
or
255/35/19 & 285/30/19?

Which combination is BEST? I am hearing conflicting stories again...

To all the Tire's experts out there, please enlighten my knowledge... Thank you again.

If you lowered or plan to lower your car better go with 275/30...

IF you go for 285/30 you need to use ET38 offset...wheel would be more tucked inn...If you got for 285/30 get 10.5 reasr so the would stick out more and would look better...

After much research and many dicussion with many experts...I went with 245/35 for and 275/30 rears lowered via 2nd gen Carlsson module...

HRE is truly the worst, at one time it seemed like they had a monopoly so they could price gouge and get away with poor customer service. Now there are many other viable options and they are going to lose many customers. I have owned many sets of HRE's and all have had problems. My most recent set I have owned for two years but only put 2000 miles on the car in that time. The Clear coat is peeling on all 4 rims. To me this is unnaceptable. Why should someone spend 5k or more on rims and only get 2 years before refinishing them? I have a set of Modulare's coming next week and will post pics soon.

Wow, that's shocking to hear!!! I am so glad I didnt order the 441R and instead I went w/M3 in Charcoal finish... My wheels are coming before the end of the month...

Chenry,

What is the configuration of your M3 in 19"? What about tires front/rear?

M5 RUS,

I plan to lower my car as well so I might take you up on your advice w/245/275.

I like the Modulare M2 in Brushed finish and 20 x 9.0 and 20 x 10. How much would these wheels go for? are they better than HRE because I have ordered the 945R in 20's...and I am still on time to cancel!!!!!Please advice and pictures would be great!

I would go with the Modulares. You are gonna fight an uphill battle with HRE. They are a huge company and have enough customers where they do not care about losing one customer when you are not satisfied with the product. Give Peter at Wheel Experts a call. He is one of if not the best car related companies i.e tuners and wheels I have ever dealt with and his credibility is second to none. I have no affiliation with them whatsover just a satisfied customer and an admitted modaholic!

Who ever said HRE is the worst just made me crack up. I never heard anything so stupid. If one or a few people had a problem makes it "the worst"? Mercedes have tons of problem in reliability, still does not stop people from buying them or running around saying there "the worst." I understand if you have a problem with them you may not want another set, but "the worst"? In my opinion and many other peoples they are "the best." I would never own anything else but HRE on my car simply because they are amazing wheels and I sell lots of other wheels and I never seen anything close to HRE yet.

I have heard that Modulare wheels are just as good or even BETTER than HRE. They are custom built to your car and take about 3-4 weeks to build (Modulare folks claimed that they use the same materials & go through rigorous process that HREs go through).

Take a look at this URL: http://www.wheelexperts.com/wheels/modulare/line.html

Everyone is entitled to thier opinion. I frequent many forums and it seems like every few days you read another post of clear coat peeling, chrome peeling, or some issue with water in the lips. Here is another bad experience posted a week ago.

Absolutely. I remember seeing that post also.

What finish did you have on your HRE that had the clearcoat peel?

Isn't clear coating an option ? I would never choose to have it done ...I'd rather keep them polished myself. BTW..I would love to see a set of unpainted Modulare M5 wheels on a silver 55...I'm seriously looking at those as one of my choices.

On the paint finish it is optional. On just say brushed its standard.
