Wheels decision... HRE or Modulare?

I am now facing a decision to replace the CLS55 AMG wheels with either the HRE 547 or the Modulare M3 (black finish)...

Let me know which one you guys like and why? Anyone know much about Modulare??? I know HRE's legendary reputation and I am leaning toward the HRE but I also like the M3 due to its agressive lip configuration... Thanks again for your suggestion / comment.

Wheel's configuration will be 19x8.5 & 19x10 w/255/35 & 285/30.

Well, those are two totally different looks IMO. Personally I would go with HRE, but I don't like the 547. My reason is simple... just ordered a set of AVUS and they didn't fit the car correctly. HRE is a custom (made to order) wheel that is hub centric (AVUS is not and caused major wheel vibration). Needless to say, I have since returned the AVUS and ordered a set of HRE 840r's. I don't know too much about Modulare, I'm just telling you what happened when I choose another wheel over HRE.

If you're just choosing from those two designs i would go for the modulare m3. They look better on the cls IMO, i think the 547R's are better suited for smaller cars such as the clk or c class. Why don't you go for 20's?

I prefer HRE but the price is way out of line. I was quoted $8,500 for the 945R in 19's with tire. The Modulare are half the price.

The HRE 945R is the top of the line HRE. Of course they are going to be expensive

Thats is terrible. I never had that issue with Avus yet. All the cars i drove with them drive like stock or like a car with HRE.

I am sorry to hear that those AVUS wheels did not work out for you but I think the 840r's are a nicer looking wheel. Good choice.

Has anyone seen these wheels on an E55 yet? I think the 547R's is a classic look but might be all played out... I dont want to go 20's because I dont want to ride on just rubbers...

Actually these Modulare M3 are high up there too (I think they cost a few hundreds more).

Do you guys know how much lip is on the front/rear of the HRE 547R's w/ the 19x8.5 & 19x10 configuration? Thanks...

Not usually a fan of these block wheels but on your white, tinted windowed E55 they look pretty sick.

I also love those but I would like 19 x 10 in the rear and they only come 19 x 9.5 so I would have to go with 20's if I pick these wheels.

I found these wheels which look so similar to the HRE 948R and I bet they are cheaper. Dont they look great. Has anyone ever bought from this company named DVINCI "Forgiato" wheel model OTTO. Here is a comparisin with the HRE.

Never heard of Modulare, it's pretty nice. Is it custom made? I like the design.

Yes, Modulare wheels are like HRE wheels, they are custom built to your car and take about 4 weeks to build (Modulare folks claimed that they use the same materials & go through rigorous process that HREs go through). They are also in California (LA area).

Go for M3's...they would look great + I havent seen E55 with M3's on...Unique...only CLS55 and they looked awesome...

Been told by many Wheel experts that Modulare just as good as HRE's in all terms...

Wanted M3's myself but got a screamiong deal on UL's...

Make sure you use right tuner to get proper sizing and offets for E55...

Yes, after some soul searching (I also looked at the HRE 441R), I have decided to get the M3 instead. They are much more expensive than the 441R or the 547R. Then again, it would be UNIQUE since no one has this configuration! Thank you all...

Yeah, I cant wait to see them too... 3 weeks / 6 days and counting...

The whole package pushed me back > $61xx (wheels are in Black finish at 48xx + PS2 at 13xx)

19x8.5 & 19x10 with PS2 255/35 & 285/30.

Good decision, I'd pick the M3 as well because it's different plus the design is pretty wicked. Which 55 will it go on? My guess the black one?

What is the best tire size for 20 x 9.0 front and 20 x 10 rear! I am looking for the thickest tire possible without rubbing or rolling my fenders!

I like the Michilin Pilot Sport 2...

Also could 10.5 in the rear fit good?

My tire size w/out any rubbing issues even full turn:

front 245/30/20
rear 285/25/20
