After Market Bluetooth.
I just picked up my new E55 last week and want to install an integrated Bluetooth phone system. Is the factory installed system my only option? Are there after market kits that I can get installed? Any input would be great!

There's a new one that's out, but it will be a couple of months for the E Class version is available.
Go to http://www.EuroCarPhone.com and get on the waiting list.

I have the Mercedes MHI and bluetooth setup and I love it. It does cost more but it is completely integrated into the car. The Eurocarphone's system doesn't work for the MOST-system car like our, only for the D2B-system cars. I would strongly recommended the Mercedes BT system. Look at it this way, another $2000 is a small pocket change compare the the price of our car.

From inside the car the audio quality is quite good and clear. From outside my wife initially complained about being too laud and unclear. After I lowered the volume on the phone and she says it is alot better now. One interersting observation. During an incoming call, the phone will ring first then pickup by the car's hand's free system. I would guess it has about 1 second delay which isn't a major incovenient. I believed the biggest advantage is the voice recognition dialing and since it is OEM it is covered under warranty should you have any problem.

Fellas,
Explain this to me... I check on wireless4mb.com and they show a device ("Bluetooth Interface Module") for $350. Is that all that is needed to get a 211 going with Bluetooth? What accounts for the >$2k price being discussed? Yeah, $2k is a bit steep for a car phone. But for $350, no prob!
Thanks,
Skeeter

I believe that is the module you use if you already have the phone in the car.
I spoke to that company and they said that in a couple of months they would have a bluetooth solution for those of us without the factory phone for approx $700.
