Question Did anyone do this for proper break-in?

The owner's manual states to use C (comfort mode) for the first 1000 miles; did anyone here abide by this?

I did it for the first 500, then sparingly until 1000

What's comfort mode?

My break in procedure: Smoke the tires in the dealers parking lot and put on a little show for all who are there.

Owner's manual??? What the hell is that??? I dont think I ever read any owner's manual for anything that I bought... Especially the E55!

I drove it under 90miles and <4500RPM the first 500 miles and lets it ripped there after...

I did.

and now, my e55 is scarred for life and runs way slower than all my friends' cars

seriously, I did. but I plan on keeping this thing for the next 10+ years, so I went by the book. No harm in that, really.

In keeping with my plan for long-term ownership, and in light of the gas prices we're looking to be fit for over the next few years (they're almost certainly not going down substantially anytime soon), I'm going to find myself in the market for a fun fuel-efficient and cheap-to-buy car pretty soon... Never thought this wagon would be a garage queen, but that's what things are increasingly looking like.

Comfort mode is the same as winter mode.
Starts off in second gear.
