I will go threw my emails with them as I also thought it was resetting the TCU and wanted them to hard program the car to drive like it all the time and wanted them to completely disable the traction control system and they said the egs system is very hard to crack and they have tried with no success on shutting down the traction control system 100%.

They told me this sneaky resets the throttle mapping in the ecu file to zero and wakes the car up and they can't hard set it because its the nature of how the ecu works.

We have done this reset and looked at the TCU threw star development and the adaptation values did not change.

edit-for you to see what kleemann has to say about this reset

Dear skratch77,

You have received a new private message at MBWorld.org Forums from Cory @
Kleemann, entitled "Re: tcu".

I don't think it will, no. All the "sneaky reset" is doing is resetting
throttle response mapping back to it's base value- it does NOTHING else. This
can make a BIG difference, especially if the car is your daily driver and you're
driving somewhat conservatively most of the time. The softness it develops over
time is just a function of the adaptive ECU. Believe it or not, throttle
response/control has a pretty big effect on shift behavior since these cars will
close the throttle between shifts.

Burnout- this is 100% a function of the traction control- no amount of EGS
programming is going to defeat the ESP, or even make it less intrusive, I'm
afraid.

Hey Cory can you tell me if your tcu will make my car feel fresh all the time
like after doing the sneaky reset?

also will it let the car do a burn out?my brothers 2004 car would let him spin
the tires for days and its almost impossible to do that in my 2005 without the
car killing power.

i've read repeatedly that it doesn't. I tried it and can't say I noticed anything, but I believe it's true for the 55 guys. I went to the dealer once and they flashed some updates which also triggered a "reset" of everything, and it was night and day!

SWo i believe it's a real thing, not just placebo, but I don't think this method works on the 7spd., but did when the dealer hooked it up (triggered the reset)

Make sure all of the doors are closed when you do it. Windows can be don, but all doors must be closed.

Doesn't sound like a reset at all and I think that's where some of you are confused. It sounds more like it's being "Force Adapted" to a full power, full throttle setting. Over time your regular driving makes it re-adapt. I think that's why the "engineers" in question haven't heard of this "reset" because it's not actually a reset. Just a sneaky way to force adapt the control units.

Going to try this on my 2001 S430 today!

Question Manual?

Can this work on a manual transmission?
c230 2005?

I tried last night and didn't notice a difference. However I am not really sure what position to have the key in. I presume it is the one before start.

Is there a way to make the throttle response quicker? I notice about a second delay or less when pressing the gas, and seeing the rev counter spike.

You answers your own question: manual transmission!!!! You would have to adapt your hand in this case LOL

I figured as much. Is there a way to quicken throttle response from the gas pedal to the engine?

Yes! With an electronic box between the gas pedal connector. It's 400 plus bucks I believe. Not worth it IMHO. I rather spend my money on important stuff.

Please don't take this the wrong way but: have you simply tried it instead of asking something in a w211 forum about W209 and waiting for an unspecified time frame to receive an answe????

Another way of resetting a Mercedes ecm is by holding the positive and negative cables together for 30 seconds. After you remove them from the battery, of course. Here are the instructions on how to remove the ecm http://www.mercedesecm.com/remove-ecu.html

If a reset doesn't work then the ecm may be bad. A good sign is the cooling fan running at high speed.

Does the sneaky ecu reset work without the key? (If I were to use the keyless go shift knob as the means of turning it to "on" etc...)

Key is required. You still have an ignition despite keyless-go!
