2007 E63 AMG
I just tried it couple of times during lunch but still no luck. Here is what I did.

1. turn the key, (i am little confused on this part. which one is consider "on".
the first 2 ? use either one. I know the third one will start the engine LOL.

2. followed instructions
Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
When I press all the way down, I felt a click also.

3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

4. I waited probably approx 3 mins.
How do you hear the ECU resetting ? My dash don't show anything accept my radio is on

5. I took the key out and put it back in , start the engine in "S" mode.
The tranny adaptation is horrible, i don't see it shifts in higher rpm.
normal driving approx 40 mph, It shifts to 6th already. Horrible LOL.

PS: Will I hear any sound when ECU reset or any notice on the dash?

Any help will be great.

I honestly have no idea about the 63's, but for 55's, you hear a small click or snap sound right around 3 mins.

Perhaps some of the other 63'rs could chime on whether it works or not.

Actually, this does NOT work on the 63. Somehow the procudure "slightly" changed for the older models (or maybe even eliminated ). It works 100% on the 55s and 32s but just NOT the 63s.

I'm not sure if it behaves differently in different cars or not......but the difference in performance after this re-set is not there. I used to do this all the time on my C32 and on my friend's S55, so I know exactly how the car feels afterwords. On those two cars, I actually felt a VERY NOTICEABLE improvement in performance; but on my E63, there was no significant change

Whoops!

It obviously does not erase the ECU tune...but it does slow the performance for a while?

I did it this morning, and at exactly 2 min I didn't hear any clicking, but there was definitely something going on. Sounded like a computer fan turned on for about 5 seconds. Maybe my garage was hot.

Did my S600 last night, the gear change is a bit jerky but when you floor it,
it goes of like a scalded cat, hopefully the jerkiness will go but I'll keep the
p***y.

Okay, I've had my '06 E55 for about a month. The shift points have been erratic. They've either not shifted when wanted or vice versa. I'm thinking to myself, I just want the car to drive like a freak show. So, I tried the ECU reset. Bingo! To be noted though, I called up the service tech here at Fletcher-Jones and he had never heard of it. Lots of help there.

Wow just did this tonight.

Amazing My car actually spinned its tires for the first time and went sideways a bit when I rammed it at the light.
Shifting feels quicker alot too and on turns when I push it a bit the car just goes side ways.

Defintley cool trick.

Review on this since I reset it about a week ago.

I dont care what anyone says: "you dont pick up HP from this"

My car is still shifting beautifully and I knocked .3 off my 0-60 and it pulls better 60-100 than when I bought it. Shifting and acceleration just so smooth !

Best DYI tune you can do on your car !!!

It's been a few weeks since I first reset. During this time I've had a few hundred miles in SoCal traffic and my car is starting to feel sluggish again. I am going to do another reset. Are there those of you out there who do this somewhat ritually to compensate for congested daily driving? For some reason I was thinking I wouldn't need to do this again so soon.

I used to do it every weekend, but since I rarely get the chance to open it up anyway (I have a 2 mile commute to work), I only do it prior to weekends when I know I'll be driving more.

If I'm not going to be able get on it much, I actually prefer the smoother/calmer adapted settings.

As for others, I know some people do it every few days, and even one person told me does it every morning.

It sure is fun though

I've been doing this since I had the car, only I was doing it the hard way; disconnecting the battery terminal overnight. This procedure described is what the techs use when they want to reset those settings.

It works great, but, as soon as you get back into a pattern of slow, constant speed driving, it will go back and you'll have to do this again.

I tried the reset last night, having owned my E55 for two weeks now. I had noticed that sometimes I had to really pound on the gas to get it to downshift and go.

This morning, I left on my normal commute to work, and was very conscious of shift points. Unfortunately, I have a 10 minute drive just to get to the freeway, and it was busy, no chance to accelerate. So I'm thinking "great, I've reset the tranny only to train it to drive at 12 MPH in bad traffic.

I finally got to the freeway, and there were slow cars in the right two lanes, but a clear path to the left lane, which was open.

I dropped the hammer, and it jumped, great acceleration, felt wonderful. I looked down and was going 80, and backed off, checking my mirrors just as an unmarked HP came roaring out from his hiding place behind the van in the carpool lane.

I always get a little adrenaline jolt when I see highway patrol. In my BMW, I would just downshift quickly to get back down to 60, in the Benz, I had to jam the brakes, since I was just in C mode, two button clicks from M and a few downshifts.

He followed me for a minute, and I knew he didn't get me on RADAR since my Passport had remained silent the whole time.

Sure enough though, the lights came on and he approached the car.

"License, reg, proof of insurance..."

"Here they are sir"

"So you got up to 80 on that crazy merger - what were you thinking?"

"Sorry sir, I just got the car and am still getting used to the power". (I'm thinking - "Well sir I just reset the ECU transmission memory and wanted to test it out", but figured that wouldn't get me very far.)

I think at this point he looked up at the radar detector and realized that a) he would have a tough time citing me for speeding since he hadn't actually clocked me and he knew that I knew, and b) I own a radar detector, so damned if he's letting me off without a ticket. So he said:

"I'm just going to cite you for an unsafe lane change - if you had taken the time to look back when you got on the freeway, I'm sure you wouldn't have jammed it like you did. This can be a life lesson for you".

Life lesson, I'm thinking? When my son died, that was a life lesson. When I was locked up as a teenager, that was a life lesson. A $124 ticket for an unsafe lane change isn't a life lesson pal.

Anyway, I'll fight the ticket as I always do (no ticket on my record for 8 years now, knock on wood). Maybe the life lesson will be his when I extend the court date as far as I can then subpoena him right under the deadline .

If I have to pay the ticket, I'll send the bill to the author of the original thread .
FYI, I beat the ticket. If anyone in the Seattle area needs a good traffic ticket attorney, I've got a guy for you.

Just for the benefit of all of us on the forum, I'm wishing you would've told him the reason you cocked the hammer was due to eagerness to test the power of the ECU reset. That visual was just killing me.
