E63 Orders.....

Has anyone else been able to place an order yet?

Dealer called w/ my spot. Going w with:

1)Black 2)Cashmere w/ Designo Burl Walnut 3) Premium pkg 2 - phone kit, active vent seats, Navi, Xenons, Keyless Go, Trunk closer 4) Pano Roof 5) iPod integration.

Now, this is the interesting part. There is no definitive price as yet. They stated that they WILL NOT use dealer incentive/dealer mark-up and are predicting that the base price may be 90-95K!!!! Ouch!!!! Guess we'll have to wait and see what MBUSA releases as sticker. Seems like there are only limited options as the premium packages absorb a few previously separate ones.

Suspected Delivery is mid August.

Is there any particular color you guys LOVE on a E AMG? Went w/ black cause I have an obsessive cleaning habit and think black may look good. Have never owned a black car tho'. Input appreciated. Also anyone seen a cashmere interior w/ either dark burl walnut or black birdseye maple? Which looks better? Decisions, decisions....

Well if you have an obsessive cleaning habit you've got the right color car....lol! Nothing shines like a freshly prepared Black car, but nothing is as much work either so the rewards are proportionate I guess.

If you can keep up with it then kudos! It'd be my first choice. I don't have the patience to constantly clean a black one though...

The recent Autoweek article on the CLK63 said to expect a "substantial price increase" over the existing CLK55. I guess 5 to 10k more would qualify.

I won't complain since that will add some points to E55 resale numbers.

Good luck with the black. It will look great if you can keep up with it.

I just had a black/stone 500 and I love to clean my cars, but the stone was the worst for showing scuffs, stain etc.

I think silver is hands down the best color on an E and on any car for that matter. With silver, the lines and shadows created by the bodywork are the most visible thus making the car's overall look more profound. Thats why most car commercials use a silver version of the car - its easiest to see the body styling. Black is no doubt the second best color, but for me, I like the look of silver.

I could see the CLK 55 to CLK 63 price justification as there is a 'substantial' leap in HP (to something like 475!!) As we have been debating here, the E gets modest HP changes, decreased torque, handling goodies and some accessories. I personally don't think the increase in cost is justified. We'll see what the official numbers are and how the car tests.

If any of you guys go to MB worldwide site, you can see the Euro price of E63 and they let you configure it as well. Too bad I can't read German!!! If anyone has insight into what they are saying (options, etc), please let me know. Seems also that they are offering the 5 spoke AMG that was initially standard equip on the CLS for the E. It is, however, the 18" version instead of the 19's. Maybe that will be here in the states as well.

only other thing I would opt for is a upgraded steering wheel. I know you can upgrade to a leather wood one on the non amg models. Might want to ask if it is a option on the new E63. I imagine it would be. Its cheap ordering it also. Only a 300 add I think

Question E63 Options??

Does anyone know if Package II includes Sirius and Drive Dynamic Seats? They don't show on the order guide. Is Sirius standard? The dealership doesn't know.

Go with BLACK & Charcoal w/birdeye maple wood interior. My first black car as well and I love it, however, I have it hand washed on a weekly basis on every Friday...

OK, I will believe you. I don't really see where a 500hp CLK fits in to the pricing, but OK. What happens to the CLK - CL differences, then?

Well the CLK63 (475hp) is the AMG model, limited production and in the U.S. it will only be sold as a convertible. The CL isn't available as a convertible and it isn't nearly as sporty as the CLK63. They're similar in concept for sure the CL and CLK, but the execution is much different.

The current 40 to 50K difference between clk to cl amgs should still exist. Don't forget the prices are not based on cost to manufacture but the perceived status.

While I think the wooden steering wheel is a classy touch, I'm not so sure that it will be ideal for sporty driving. Sweaty palms and all while flying down the road......

it doesnt have to be wood. But I love my wood wheel in my car. No where near sweaty on my wood part of the wheel. Just a suggestion since the wheel in the current and it seems the new car sucks for a 100k car. I think we all agree on that

sucks? hmmm, I don't think so. It may not be an Mp Designs, but the wood is NOT part of the improvement.
