I like the chrome too, I also like the perforated leather on the steering wheel but the whole center section of the wheel, buttons etc are the exact same design as my 2004 CLK though. The pointed front looks good too, but I 'll wait for the second production year of the all new E, right about when my new lease ends.
Oh and the black gauges and shroud..."hated it"! LOL

Yeah I don't get the steering wheel redesign. I think its a step down. The current wheel is much bigger looking and authoritative. The paddle shifters make up for it though. And FINALLY they added that piece below the diffuser between the exhaust...I was waiting for that.
Oh yeah - does anyone know if the new 6.3 engine will rev match on downshifts? MB seriously needs to add this feature to the tranny.

what is revmatch? If you mean kick up the gas a bit on downshift, then mine does that now (in S)
Yes, the piece between the Exhaust outlets looks great!! I still want the solid CF piece for mine, though.
The new steering wheel is FATTER than the current E. If you look close, you will see some of the aggressive curves that the MP design has. However, I too HATE the CLK buttons. We have known this is the wheel we get, since it is the CLS AMG wheel.

I understand what you mean and no, mine doesn't do that. Oddly enough, I do it when I go manual. I usually pop the gear switch and the gas pedal at the same time and the delay in shifting is timed nicely. Only catch is that I use Sport mode and not manual when i want to really go fast. i basically use manual only when I want to be able to floor it and not have it shift down!!
I did like the look of the shifters, but I will NOT be getting them. I am sort of non-conventional in that I move my hands around the wheel LOTS during high speed. Most drivers are taught to hold 9 and 3 and just stay there, but I prefer to hop. I tried to re-train years ago, but it really hurt my times. i also seem to cut lines that are a little different that others? Go figure. I like to cut in harder and drift out, and others seem to like to go in wider (than me) and try to straighten out the apex asymetrically. Anyhow, the reason I hate the paddles is that I caught myself hitting the paddles a few times on different AMGs by accident. This could be a problem if it were to happen at the wrong time. Any comments? Do those of you that want the paddles not care of accidental hits on aggressive driving or what?

As for the square jaw ala sl65 with round foglights, reworked mirrors, tail light lenses the rear diffuser and narrow offset 18" wheels with 245/265 Contis?...yawn! We have all moved on to better tires and 19" wheels, but they are still flogging the dead horse!
I did the blue parking globes 12 months ago and chrome indicator globes, but they still persist with the orange ones, even though they put in the "rainbow" globes in the CLS55.

Jangy -
You make a good point about accidentally hitting the paddle shifters. I, too, do not use the typical 10 and 2 or 9 and 3 grip on the steering wheel, especially in a car like an E55 with so much understeer. It's simply impossible. F1 paddles in real F1 cars are mounted on the steering column and not on the actual wheel to avoid this exact problem.
