The 2006 Cannonball is over...

What a blast. The Noble finished 1st in class and 7th overall. Had I not burried the Noble into the tirewall at VIR, we would have placed 2nd.

The E definitely held it's own. It finished 2nd in class to the M5 and 27th overall. It beat the M5 both times at Road America and would have won the drag but it was rained out. For a 4 door luxury sedan, the E did great. For a 4 door luxury sedan, the M5 did incredidle- 11th overall.

I've got some good video of the tirewall which I'll post later today. I'll also include some pictures of the crazy Frankenstein repairs we performed to get it back on the track.

A big thanks to Endsmtg for loaning me his rims for the Cannonball!

Derek,

Great job - followed the results on the Cannonball site. Really disappointed that the US41 drag event was rained out!

BTW, I came across this One Lappers burnout clip earlier today - was that Chris or you driving?

Well done!

Derek,

Nice work!! 605 total points in the Noble!! A very nice showing.

Should we expect to read about you in an upcoming Car and Driver?

This should have been you:

Thanks guys. Wulf, that's me driving the E for the burnout. Ran that rubber down to the cords.

Thanks Rock but DaVia and Wikstrom definitely earned their first place victory. I beat them a few times but their consistency is amazing.

I'm pretty sure you'll see the Noble in the Car & Driver article with all the repairs we did. They've already written about us a few times. I too was VERY disapointed in the drag races being cancelled. We had a full bottle waiting on that M5.

Do you mean the E in the burnout video? If so, that's me driving my car.

Here's the crash at VIR and the "save" at Road America. When you hit a wall, it can jerk the wheel which can break your wrists. I let go of the wheel at Road America in the rain for the first spin thinking that I'm going into the wall but then realize this might be salvageable.
