Nice post Adam. I must say that when I had orignially had my Renntech equipment put in I wasn't considering the headers. After one look at the factory headers I realized THEY HAD TO GO. What was AMG thinking?
Question:
1) Does the SL55 have the same headers?
2) Does the SL55 have the same vents in front of the air intake as the E55?
I am thinking conspiracy theory...

Now THOSE are headers Rock...are they close to equal length tubes ?? The factory exhaust manifolds are pathetic..they remind me of the old log style smallblock Chevy. There has to be some serious gains with those Kleeman units. The Renntech look very nicely made and I'm sure much better than stock...but these look like speed equipment. Just curious...what does a set of headers cost for these cars ?

2) Erm; that i do not know for sure.
When are you going to dyno?
Do they bolt up to the stock downpipes?
Thank you for the compliments guys!

Is it me or do the RT headers have one tube welded into another tube that appears to be the same size, and there is no real collector? Those aren't headers, they're glorified exhaust manifolds. How much do they cost?
The Kleemann units are much better. They have four individual tubes that terminate into an appropriate collector. Although the tube and collector diameters look a little big, their only real negative is the obvious unequal tube lengths.
Based on the units I've seen (including SS), Evosport makes the best header for the E55. Their only drawback is the one tube that is significantly shorter than the rest. Plus, they're coated. Here's an image:

I guess they are good for what they are... a direct OEM exhaust manifold replacement.

Very nice...look like they hook up to exhaust system a bit easier with the type of flange they used. Kleemans look like a good ole race header collector !

Awesome pics, Adam!!!
How difficult is the install? Real tight in there?

Thank you Sir! I didnt install it but my technician said it was real tight on the passenger side. The driver side was relatively easy.

Well bro, we'll see from the dyno results this friday shall we? I dont want to sound biased so i will leave that question unanswered. But I stand firmly behind Renntech and its products.

I have witnessed this first hand on the dyno with other cars. It could be different with our engines being that dj55 has the fastest pulley and header et and he has the evo's.
In my opinion the ss long tubes will make most power with nitrous, jet for jet.

Renntech Headers
I've seen these headers up close! Nice workmanship. But still is restricted at the collector. Plus I choked on the Price!!!! $5000.00 plus install labor. Thats was a year ago !There should offer some improvement over the OEM manifolds. Did anybody consider , firing order, exhaust pulses. and the time dwell between the adjointing exhaust tubes.
