AMG LSD: Best Price

Well, I have been contmplating getting an LSD for my K2+TB 2005 E55 for some time now. I am leaning towards the AMG LSD but can't find it for less than 6k

Anyone know of a place that may have a better deal?

Get a Quafe LSD instead of the AMG version. It costs 1/3 the price and performs far better than anything AMG has designed. It just installs into the existing pumpkin and off you go.

Why isn't the Kleemann LSD an option for you?

My fear, though perhaps unfounded, is that the traction control will not integrate well with a non OEM LSD. Am I completely incorrect?

Yes. There is nothing to "integrate". The only thing any brand of LSD will do is to prevent ESP from killing power and/or applying the brakes to prevent wheel spin, since there will now be less of it.

yes - I know of a cheaper place to get a new AMG LSD for your car (including the axles that you will need and shipping per FedEx IP...including AMG approved differential oil - excluding installation

Man, I was THIS close to having Klee install an SL65 rear in my car.....then we realized we needed the axles and I just couldn't wait. Had to pass.

Still love my Klee LSD though. Even Klee will tell you the Mercedes LSD is stunning in design, but theirs gets the job done.

I got the axles and the diff thru Evosport. The dealer in Germany failed to advise us that we needed the Euro axles when they shipped the diff so they gave us the axles for free

Call Simon at Evosport for pricing- at 714-901-3100 x60.

Having used a quafe diff in a C32 at our local road course I can safely say it works flawlessly with the factory ESP system. The 2003 C32 has a very intrusive ESP system since for that year it was not modified to be unique to an AMG car (in the W203) so it always cuts power in a very aggressive way. The car has far better control, is easier to launch, and ESP spends less time flashing and the car can actually be thrown around a whole lot better.

The big pro on this diff is that it is a real 100% variable locking diff so you can have mor than 30% locking as in the AMG and Kleemann diff. The downside is that if you have one wheel off the ground the diff does not work as well as non clutch plate diffs but this will almost never happen in a Mercedes. That issue is more often seen in front drive cars where you can lift an inside front wheel fairly easliy at the track.

I think the Quafe diff is a great product and the price is right. Why spend 4k or more for an AMG diff that is less aggressive when the "real deal diff" is only 1700-1900 + installation.

Good luck

And the Quaife unit is 100% maintenance free, warrantied for life even if you race the car, and the warranty is transferrable. You won't find a better option than Quaife if they have an application for your car. I'm trying to get one installed in my SLK32.
