E55 vs MB Mclaren F1.

Take a look at this video. It makes our cars look a little underpowered.

Oldie but a goodie. When you watch F1 now or if you have ever been to a race, the MB/AMG F1 Pacecar is being driven pretty hard by a former DTM driver on a caution lap while the F1 cars are putting heat in the tires. It's sort of like watching a cat play with a ball of yarn.

Your worst nightmare...
Power to weight ratio is the main cause, plus not to mention the F1 car pushing over 1000 HP, it is an incredible video none the less.

Usually they have around 800-900 hp, but weigh a dime.

As newton said, at the time, F1 power levels were pushing 800hp. Since then the V10s were getting to around the 900hp level before F1management/FIA decided to switch to v8's to "cut costs". The new V8's are smaller in displacement and are making ~750+ hp and would still beat the older Mclaren shown in the video as far as lap times are concerned. Regardless the video just goes to show you how incredible an F1 car really is.

I like this video better: http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2006/...ctief_relatief

Shows better cars with the same effect. And a great way to learn French!

A tad bit of downforce, great mechanical grip & tires and some amazing engineering doesn't hurt either.

Factoid: The fuel in the new F1 V8 engines travels close to supersonic speeds to meet the high rpm demands of the motor. Can't even imagine fluids breaking the sound barrier. This was from Race Car Engineering magazine.

Nice video too. SL is performing well against the DTM car.
